Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 373 and 374

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

We will be flying into Great Lakes.  We live in Texas and have to return by Monday and didn't want to spend most of our time driving.

I can't wait for that weekend and PIR! My husband and I were told that we will be able to be with him all weekend. He will have a curfew of 9pm. Hope this is true.. It will be so cool to see our used-to-be-boy as a Sailor!

found out yesterday my son will be staying at Great Lakes for A school- still doesn't know what he will be doing :-(

Happy Monday everyone!  Only 5 more Mondays left!

We heard from our SR Saturday night; got to talk for about 20 minutes - Everyone in the house got to talk to him.  He was more enthusiastic this week and not feeling homesick; great for all of us too- no tears!  He had his wisdom teeth removed last Wednesday and said it was no big deal, ibuprofen was helpful.  He was looking forward to working at Chapel on Sunday, and was sending out some letters this week.

I guess in the excitement of the call I forgot to tell him some info.  I remembered today that we'll be camping for Labor Day weekend and won't be home for a call.   I sent out a note to tell him today, hoping he gets it before the weekend.

So glad he's feeling better about things, Diver.  I cannot begin to imagine how tough that first week is for them.  Those phone calls are just amazing, aren't they?

My son is also on ship 13 div 374 PIR 10/04

38 more days!!!!! Got his call Sat also is one of the sick SR's hope it doesn't effect any of his tests

Does anyone have a son/daughter going to Texas for A school ?

ProudMommaJen:  Those staying in GL for A School are very fortunate because you will have Daytime Liberty through the weekend with your sailor!   They move over there shortly after PIR concludes and you pick them up there a few hours later (A School base is next to RTC).  They may miss some Liberty time due to "watches" but still have an abundance of time to spend with you.

Ryan'sMom:  I assume yours is staying in GL for A School too?  YAH!  Yes, they have to return to base at night.  Those flying out to A Schools will have to be back on RTC by 8 or 9 pm on Friday (your sailor will know).  They will most likely be bussed to the airports in the wee hrs of Sat morning, where you can meet them and wait until their departure....take ID to get your airlines gate pass to get through security so you can watch the plane depart!

My older son went to San Antonio for A school (Master at Arms.)  He loved it there, and he said he bonded way more with A school people than with his division at boot camp.

I have decided Wednesday is my favorite day! I received letters from my SR today! God bless that mail man, I wanted to run after him and give im a HUGE hug..glad I have a little bit of self control! My son wrote the same night he called, he's a little homesick, of couse. His letters were positive and he is making the best of this experience, which shows he is growing up! YAY!

very happy for you, I am sure my son mailed his letters to our Cape Cod cottage, but I am back  home for school/work and won't get my mail until Friday, can't wait, almost want to drive down there just to get the mail!

I agree, these letters are great!

Just received another phone call tonight.  I am pleasantly surprised by how often the calls are at Boot Camp.  I've already received more than I expected!
