Welcome to the Division Discussion for divisions 073 and 074.

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Got 2 letters from my son this past week and think I have read them and reread them two or three times by now! He sounds like he is doing good and staying really busy!! I can tell he is homesick but hanging in there. I know this is such a totally new and different experience for him. I can hardly wait to see him at PIR on the 25th and give him a really big hug. He is also in the group of ship14/Div074 and will be heading to CT for sub school afterwards.

So is my son... going to sub school! I have read my letters several times, texted one of his teachers because he said something I thought she would get a kick out of (and she did and said she was proud of him) I have them out on my table so I can keep reading them. He is going to get a ton when they can start getting mail again as we send something every day. I think today is when they can get mail again.

I got another letter today!!! I am so happy. He sounds good, just a little frustrated. He is glad that they have started working out more.

Good Morning Ladies!

Hope all is well and that you had a great Christmas...Its been a couple days since I've been on here but Im so glad to read about the letters and phone calls! I finally received a couple letters on Friday and boy was that a treat, he even wrote a little note for me to read to our little guy...Hes in great spirits and doing well thank god..He mentioned having bunkmates from NY and NJ but didnt give names...He's also Unit Leader! So proud of him....I've read his letters so many times, makes my heart smile =0) I also received my first phone call yesterday!! Best. Week. Ever!

We got a phone call Wed but I have not had time to get on here and share. He is Section Leader, on watch...,just sounded and doing so well. He said he misses listening to music a lot! I asked about the food and he said it is great and he gets a ton of it, so he is eating well. What a great Christmas gift... to get that phone call!

Hello everyone!

I am soo new to the Navy thing Im not sure where to start lol. Im trying really hard to make it to PIR. This last month with only a few calls has really been difficult. The letters help A LOT, I got 2 today! I was soo excited I skipped into the house lol. Our sailor is doing much better as the weeks have went by. I think he even got the job he was wanting :) I am soo very proud of him, words can't even describle. We are all very excited about graduation then A school in Pensacola, where he will only be 2 hours from home!! It CAN NOT get here fast enough lol

Does anyone know when they have to leave for A school? I've read it could be as early as AM hours on the 26th or later. Naturally I want to spend as much time with him as possible after graduation, but not sure when to book the flight back home...and do they have to return graduation night or will they be allowed to stay the night with us?? Any info you can give will be greatly appriciated! Thanks and hope everyone has a great day!! :)

Welcome Sailorsgirl!

I've received 2 phone calls since my husband left and one of them was because he needed me to fax info so it was literally like 5-6 minutes...Receiving his letters is just amazing-I received a few yesterday as well =0) Glad your sailor is doing well!

After PIR they are allowed to leave with you and spend the day with their families but are not allowed to spend the night. They have a curfew of 8pm if Im not mistaken, your sailor will know his curfew for sure. From what I've read on this site they usually leave the following morning for A School (26th)...They spend most of the day at the airport but you're able to get a pass at the airport and spend time with him while he waits to leave. The chances of him leaving Sunday are very slim but I plan on returning back on Sunday so that I can spend as much time with him at the airport on Saturday as I can and "just in case" he leaves on Sunday =0)

Hope this helps

I think I have gotten 3 maybe 4 calls so I guess I really shouldn't complain lol where will your sailor be going to A school?

The info on graduation night helps alot thank you! He said he was pretty sure they would have liberty ( I think thats what he called it) for the weekend and wouldn't have to return Friday night, I wish that is was true, but it doesn't sound like they would let them do that. Im just ready for A school, well for phase 1 to be over, then he can start coming home on the weekends!! lol

Hi :)..my daughter is in Div 73 and is going to A school in Pensacola. She told me she leaves on Sunday evening.

Hi Gaby!

my husband is in Div 073 as well! He will be heading to Meridian, MS for A School. He also mentioned leaving Sunday which Im praying is true so that we get to spend Saturday with him as well as Friday =0)

I just read where your daughter is heading. My girl will remain at Great Lakes for A school. Originally she was scheduled for Pensacola. She has a husband and twelve year old daughter, hence I have only had letters. They get the phone calls..as it should be! She has done so well through this process. I do believe her maturity and life experiences have been beneficial in this regard. She also is in phenomenal physical shape, which has helped!
