OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. There are now tickets issued, and there are no longer parking passes for PIR.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I don't know what the deal.  I live in Corvallis, OR - and hr and 1/2 from the Portland airport.  I had to drive by the airport on my way home from a conference for work this evening.  As I drove by the airport (last place I saw my son at MEPS as he headed to boot camp),  I was over come with emotion and right back to where I was with the whole boot camp experience.  I cried all the way home...  When does this stop?

Just checking in.... Wondering how others are doing?  Kathy

I agree with everything jdrs1606 said. Sarges service was amazing. Have to give a plug to our driver DAVE! He was so polite and patintly answews all of our questons. When he picked up our sailor from the horel to take him back, he called us to say he made it safely and on time. We really appreciated that. They went way beyond what I expected and could recommend them enough. Thank-you Navy for moms for allyour wealth of information that got us through bootcamp!

BeeBee, jdrs1606, Dm:  Thanks so much for posting this info.  I'm glad that you all recommend Sarge for the future groups!

If anyone had experience with the other 2 MeetandGreets (Flanigans and Ramada), please share that here also.  Thanks!

We didn't use his shuttle service but we did go to the Meet & Greet, which I'd have to say was very helpful. He does give lots of information and does his best to answer everyone's concerns. I would definitely recommend his Meet & Greet to everyone that needs the info. We drove to the grad. but because of Sarge's info. the previous night things went smoother. We are very thankful for his time.
Hope this helps, thank you for all you do!!!

I used his shuttle service and attended his meet & greet. Sarge's service was the best! Sarge provided the most efficient, cost effective and personalized service. He helped me save money by letting me share the ride to O'hare at 3:00 a.m. (Which he also organized). Since I was going to stay at O'hare and my husband was going to join me later - Sarge texted my husband that I got to O'Hare safely. My husband really appreciated that. He made sure my son (and the other graduates) got back to RTC safely and on time with directions for getting to his ship. Sarge was spot-on with his advice and recommendations. We are grateful to N4M for providing his information and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Sarge's taxi/shuttle service. Sarge will take very good care of you.

I didn't use his shuttle but I did get some pricing from him and attended his meet and greet. He gave a lot on info during the meet and greet and answered a few questions via txt for me during the weekend. He's very helpful and knowledgeable. I would recommend him and I gave his number to my sailor who will be in GL for about a year.

Ladies, I'm collecting feedback on your experience with Sarge and crew during PIR weekend.  Both in his shuttle service and MeetandGreet.  Please post on here ....or....friend request/private message me.  We always want feedback on people we recommend on this site.  Thanks!

I had the same problem! I was on 3 FB sites that were close but not my son's division until I found this one and I pledged I would provide the link whenever I referred to the FB site because it was not coming up in ordinary searches because they used hyphens instead of slashes in the name and the other sites had the slashes. I'm glad I could help. See ya on FB. My sailor is in Meridian, Mississippi.
