Hi all!  This is a discussion I've started for the families with recruits in Ship 2, Div 952.  Of course anyone can join, but this will help those of us in this specific group get to know each other.

I have heard there is a delay for them to go to Pensacola. My son is going there too and he said he said he has heard the same rumors. So good news probably not a grad n go, bad news it delays a school which delays them coming home before heading to their station.
I talked to my son, Drew's recruiter today and asked about RAP program where he can work in the recruiters office while waiting for A school to begin. Drew heard thru the grapevine about a 2 month delay before A school but the recruiter says no way, that he will be sent straight from boot camp to school, even if school does not start right away. There he would do odd jobs until classes begin. But if he wishes he can come home for a week or two and work in their office. They will also have a week off at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Has anyone else heard the same info ????
My son was told before he left by his recruiter that he would go back to Maryland for 2-3 weeks before Pensacola but would have to work in the recruiters office during that time. But in the short note I got from Charlie on Friday he said it doesn't look like that will be happening and instead will go straight to Pensacola. I guess we won't really know until we get there and see them at PIR... I haven't heard anything about time off yet for the holiday's though it would be nice!
He said Computer Electronics. He has to have back ground checks. So I am not exactly possitive of the exact job. I am praying each night he is not a Grad & Go. I get sad just thinking about getting to see him for only a few hours after waiting all this time. So I hope they are behind in letting them in to A School. For me good for him not so good. He was suppose to call his GF tonight. But she never said he did so maybe he could not call. I am just happy with my small letter from him weekly.
My son is CTR and so has to go through the background checks as well. I've been through the routine myself way back when so I am ready for the questions. lol

No call either, but I wasn't expecting one. When I talked to him last Friday the 8th, he thought it would be a couple weeks before he could call again. It would have been nice though.
Here's a question for all my 952 friends, any of you know of a tattoo artist in the group?
My son, Drew, is a tatoo artist, although he joined the Navy before actually getting his license. Whew! I'm glad for that decision change. Tell your son to look him up.
I believe he already has, he said met a tattoo artist who he thought was cool, which is what caused me to ask. I also heard (can't remember from where) that your son designed their division flag.... Can't wait to see it! So anyway, I'm sure in any free time they have (which I don't think is much) he is probably pestering your son to design his first tattoo.... :-)
Wow, that is so cool. I hope it is my son he is talking about. He has not said anything about the flag, though I've only gotten the one real letter from him. He is truly a fantastic artist. We are from Arkansas. What school is your son shooting for? Drew wants electronics but I can't remember the exact term for it. I'm hoping they will find out this week where they are headed...I'm so anxious.
My son was told Pensacola for A School. His is job is CTR and seems to be very excited about it. But I wonder if that will change now that he's there. I've heard "read" that some recruits are changing their jobs and it sounds like Drew didn't have one picked for sure? Hmmmm.... I haven't gotten any real letters myself, just answers to the questionnaires that I sent. So there is no extra stuff about what is going on or what he is experiencing. I wish I'd get that stuff, but I'll be happy with anything at this point!
I know what you mean. Waiting is tough. When he mentioned the job in his letter he said "AECF" and he did have a specific job in mind. I just wasn't really clear on the details myself. What is CTR? And what is your son's name? I'll ask Drew about him in my next letter.
I just sent you a friend request so we can talk name's offline...My guess is they only know each other by last names so we should probably not post those here.

CTR is computer technology receiving - I think. Hard to remember all the technical terms! lol
