Hi all!  This is a discussion I've started for the families with recruits in Ship 2, Div 952.  Of course anyone can join, but this will help those of us in this specific group get to know each other.

Here's an update on the mail....On the mail....they start receiving it about 2 weeks after they arrive. In the beginning, they can only write on Sundays, but later on, they usually can write other nights (if not too tired!). If you start writing Brandon right away when they write from the day their recruit leaves, then the recruit will get a ton of letters on the 1st day of mail delivery. THAT is fun for them. From what I have found as well, once they start getting mail, they get it either Mon-Fri or Mon-Sat, not sure which is right but at least it's not just on Friday!

Hope this helps lighten your heart a bit.
Thanks! Oh, I have been writing since I received his address! LOL Cards, letters and sent 2 little hometown newpapers that he may not get to have, but sent them to find out (they are about 4 pages ha ha ...little town paper) I am staying VERY upbeat, positive and encoraging in my letters. I fill them full of "fluff"....talk about the barn kitty and her 4 new babies, how I haven't seen any snakes (scared to DEATH of them and he laughs at me. I can't scream since I had neck surgery so I told him if I was running and flapping my arms like I was trying to fly .... it was because I saw a snake!) He should get TONS of mail when he gets it. My friends are also sending encouraging cards and letters.
No letter today. :( Last week I got one on Thursday, so I was hoping. Last day at my long time job today...still going in extra early tomorrow to finish up financials,.etc but it was very emotional all day long. Hoping a letter would cheer me up. Maybe tomorrow....
I'm right there with you. No letter today either, not even the form letter....it will be tomorrow. It HAS to be!

Your dedication to your old/new job is admirable. I'm sure your grandson has learned that trait from you and it will show in his performance at GL!
You haven't gotten your form letter yet? The one about PIR? I got that last Friday with a little note from Brandon on the bottom.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for today. I did get to talk with him for about 5 minutes earlier today (happy dance!!) and he said he mailed it this week. Not sure why the delay, but it's all good now that I know it's coming!
Hang in there. Sorry about your job stress too- that can't help. We got a letter today ( friday) so I"m keeping my fingers crossed that you all get one too! He sounds great, I burst into tears at the mailbox, I'm sure our neighbors were wondering what the heck was going on! My school is a balanced calender school, so we're on break for a week. My hubby and I are headed to New York City for an empty nesters moon. (I'm not sure there is such a thing!) Have any of you ever been there? I'm so looking forward to it.
Hi there. About the newspaper clippings....I sent my son a picture from the paper of a 13 foot alligator found in the Arkansas river near us, and some Razorback scores....but when he finally got to call he said all news clippings were taken away from them and for me to just include the info in my letters. That's too bad...much easier to send the clippings. My letters sound silly to me but Drew said he loves reading every word!
No letter here either ladies :(
Tomorrow for sure we will all receive one:)
My other kids were laughing at me last night because I've been sending a letter every day. My son hates attention but we also laughed because there is no stopping this mom, even when her kids find it annoying. Whether it be 50,000 pics for the scrapbook or letters written I shall not be stopped ;)
I haven't sent pictures but the only days I haven't put a letter in the mail were last week Saturday and Sunday! I've sent one - just one pagers, and a couple of those questionaires in the mail every day once I had the address. And that first day it was three since I had already started writing! I'm with you....you cannot stop us!
We have the grouchiest mailman- he is SO grouchy about mail. So in a twisted kind of way I am enjoying putting a letter in our box for him to pick up every day. Hopefully he's not throwing them out! HA We did get a letter today- YAHOO!! He sounds so good!
No letter or phone call here. :(
