Got our letter today.  So happy to see my son's writing on that envelope.  Now just waiting for the first letter from him. Just thought I would start a place for discussions for all the love ones of those in Ship 7 Div 259 and Div 260.

We got letters-yes plural!- today.  My son said they would get to send mail for the first time on the 5th.  He wrote on the 4th.  So happy!.  He sounded very positive, has made some good friends.  His best friend is from Tennessee if any of you out there are from Tennesse, would you let me know?

Man, I'm still waiting to hear something :( No letter or phone call yet. So you got more than one letter from him? I really hope I'll find something out soon.

Okay, I got my letter! Wow, the tears could not stop falling. It was so amazing to hear from my boyfriend. He said this division is called "Hells Division" because they are with the 3 hardest recruit training commanders!!

He is in division 259! One of the letters was dated July 4th so apparently they were allowed to write that day for a little bit.

Well that must be why no letters and late letter in your case. I hope my son hasn't gotten in trouble. Sometimes the hardest is the best, so maybe they will be better sailors. Please keep letting us know what you can that does help. So happy for you.

I am from Tennessee and my boyfriend who's at the boot camp is from Tennessee also! I wonder if that's him! :)

Hi Everyone!

Haven't gotten a letter yet...but...he called this morning at 6am PST. He was in the office doing some things with his security clearance and had to get more information from us. It was INCREDIBLE to hear his voice. He sounded very tired, but really good. I asked if he felt like he'd made a mistake or was still sure the Navy was for him. He said absolutely that the Navy was for him. He also said that his division (260) got moved to the USS Arizona which is ship 14 now. The AC went out in ship 7. The new street address is 3410 Sailor Dr and ship 14. He mentioned that 259 is their brother division so I am assuming they moved too. Not sure about anyone else. He also said that their RDC was one of tougher RDC's but he really liked him. He's tough (used to be a seal) but fair and is very engaged with the group. Apparently they get in trouble quite a bit and have already done lots and lots of push-ups. He wasn't real happy about that, but is focused on the whole team effort thing. I told him it would come together.

I asked if he was eating and he said the food was really good. He had blueberry pancakes, hashbrowns, cinnamon toast and country ham for breakfast this morning. They are up everyday at 0400 and taps is at 2200.

Last, he said today was the last official day of week 1. They start week 2 tomorrow. Thought you guys would like to know where they are in the scheme of things. The had a week and a half of processing...

I guess that's it for now. I am so blessed I got to hear from him! Have a good night!

HI Marcs Mom...I am not on facebook although I do updates on my son's while he is gone. You can PM me here if you want and we can exchane email if nothing else. I know my son has at least one friend he's met so far. :-) maybe we can exchane information offline. I don't want to break any privacy rules...I'm practicng for when he becomes a CTR and I won't know about anything or be able to talk about what I do know. LOL

Okay so do we need to start sending letters to a different address now? I sent out a letter to my boyfriend today with it still being ship 07, so I hope he still gets it. I'm just not sure how to address the letters now.

Hi Everyone,

I keep noticing the Meet and Greets and didn't think much of it til I started seeing our sailors' PIR date start popping up. The night before PIR there are several places hosting them. Out of hte few I saw, Flannagan's had one that has very low cost or free appetizers and a $10 dinner credit for our Sailor that is good for steak or seafood. We can also ask for a certificate for ourselves for dinner before or after the meet and greet. Here is the link: Meet and Greet. Just something to consider. We will be getting in and settled by 4:30 - 5:00 that afternoon before PIR.

Take care!

Are you addressing the letters to ship 14 now?

Yes, got letter today from my son and he said to use the Ship 14  address for Div 259 as well.
