OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

some general FIT info (with updates and cautions at the end... don't think the visit part is still true)
my son failed his last run just before battlestations, and we got the dredded "don't come I will not be in PIR" call. Before I canceled our flights I did a lot of research on this and other sites and found out...
1. if you fail the run, you are moved to FIT and will re-try every other day until you pass
2. when you pass, you will be sent to the very next battlestations, even if it is that night.
3. You will have some liberty after battlestations before you are shipped off to A school. Time varies depending on the school
4. the trainers at FIT will work hard to help your child achieve!
6. if they are able to pass the run the next day (if it is offered) they go to PIR right after battlestations, they sit in the balcony at the left end of the hall, not in front of the division...but we sat with the division and our son found us there afterwards. (b/c the schedule allowed for him to try again the night before)
we decided not to cancel the flights and to try to see him. our prayer was just that. HOWEVER he passed his test on the next run, went to battlestations that night and was at his PIR in the stands (they wouldnt let him march since he had now been up over 24 hours. battlestations ended 7 am.) He got to see all his division buddies, and had the whole day with us! It was great!!! There were 17 other kids who passed with Taylor. Most parents had canceled their flights :(
It is a personal choice for each family once you get the call. Cancel if you need to. no guilt. However, if you can attend anyway, your child MIGHT be there, based on how quickly he passes and when battlestations are scheduled

(9/10/12)- I think this post created too many phone calls to the command. I deleted some of the contact info. please do not call the base. My info about visits may no longer be true, but still know your kids are in good hands, and there is blessing for them in finding the resolve and courage to accomplish this goal for themselves. I didn't delete the entire post b/c I think there is a lot of encouragement in the comments and replys, but please do not hold hope you will get to see our child. Based on replies, the command is being very strict about visitors now...

thanks dani...n yes now he knows,,he can..its all how u can program your mind..LOL..thanks for your concern n support....i feel sooo proud of him...:) ,,now hes in the waiting ..program..waiting to be ship out to his A school...S.C...as a nuke ,,he works fr 7am til 3pm ,,n now he can all everyday..:)...

Great post, Thom! I am soooooooo happy they are letting her keep trying. My son said that as long as they showed improvement over their last run, they didn't bother them. It was those that did not improve that got hassled by the rtc's. So glad she has that winning spirit. And awesome advice on the 40 second lap. My son said while he knew they were helping, he knew his pace best and some of the helpers actually made it worse. That said, he said that did teach him what he needed for a pace. Hugs! Great call.

I wish I had read this on Friday :( I made e trip (from Texas) not knowing if my son would graduate. He didn't :( I called Friday morning to see if I would be able to see him since I had heard another mom the week before did see her SR even though he wasn't graduating and was told no I not would get to see him. Kicking myself for not showing up anyways :((((

My son was supposed to graduate this past Friday, 9/7/2012. He has been in the FIT Division for a week. I had planned to throw caution to the wind and go anyway, based on what I read here,m hoping he would pass the run that day, do BS that night, and graduate as planned. I called Public Relations from the airport before boarding my flight to see if he had run that morning and was told no, and was told emphatically NOT to come, that there was NO WAY I would see my recruit. They told me that they had heard that people were reading somewhere that if they came,that they would be able to possibly have a short visit but wanted to make sure I knew, without a doubt, that this was not true. They actually got the Officer in charge to tell me, and then had my SR call and tell me. Now I'm afraid my SR is in hot water because of it. I guess they are just tired of people calling them. I never got the official "I'm not graduating" call. I never even got a call when he went to FIT, but found out accidentally. I hate not knowing what is going on, but there is no way I am calling there again. :(

sorry I may have caused problems for the boot camp command. Maybe my post added too much attention to this matter. Please do what the command instructs you to do, but still take peace knowing that your son/daughter is in good hands at the FIT program, and you will get to hear about their success soon! This is a time of great growth for them since, at this point they are pushing themselves for themselves. They find great resolve and pride to accomplish for themselves the goal before them. Stay strong. You will, and your child will be blessed in this challange.

They are still recruits and treated as such, even in FIT. If they haven't passed everything they haven't earned the privilege to have visitors, that is saved for those who PIR. .

Hi my boyfriend didnt pass his last physical test and his original PIR date is this friday on the 16th if he doesnt graduate this friday will he have the opportunity to graduate on a different PIR date? because his mother talked to his recruiter and she wwas told that since he missed his pir date after he passes this test he will just be shipped to A school in texas without having a graduation is that true?
