For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Step Child Situation
I have a huge situation that was just dropped on me and could really use some helpful information. Well I am married and my husband has a child but doesn't have custody. I am waiting to ship out to bootcamp. My recruiter just informed me that I need my stepchild's birthcertificate and social security card before I can ship out. Well my step child's mother has not contacted my husband back after he has asked her for the documents. Is it possible for him to go and get the birth certificate and social security card for his daughter from the proper offices (although he doesn't have custody) or do I have to sit and hope she comes around and gives him the documents.

For a birth certificate you can order from the dept of vital statistics in the state where child was born. SS I am not sure of but if he had the number could ask local SS office what he needs to get it.

If his name is on the birth certificate then yes he is legally entitled to a copy of her birth certificate. That can be ordered through vital check online and rushed. The social security card can be obtained from the social security office. My suggestion is to go to the closest one to you and fill out the form and submit it. They should give you a paper stating you haver ordered it and possibly her number. This info is needed for deers. Honestly it may delay you shipping out but not by much.

Why would it be needed for DEERS (for a step child) since she has no legal obligation to support her husband's child?

that was my question to my recruiter as well. Especially since he doesn't have custody and doesn't live with us at all.

Normally you can get anyone's birth certificate at your local health department. As for the social security card, I would think if your husband has visitation rights to the child that he should be able to obtain that with you local social security offices. He may need to show court papers showing he has legal rights to him.
