You just have to pray and know that your Sailor and his shipmates are doing what they are well trained to do and trust that all will go well for him and all of the other Sailors and service members. Your Sailor is in the best hands of all--those of God and the US Navy.

You may want to join Destroyer Moms (DDG) (clickable link). What is your Sailor's rating (job/specialty) and/or where is he stationed? There may be other groups for those as well.

Prayers for you, your Sailor and all our military troops! ~Hugs~

Hi, is he on the Nimitz? I just found out mine is there too and I'm nervous too..we will pray and have faith that it will be ok.

Join USS NIMITZ (CVN68) and check out CARRIER Families!. What is your Sailor's rating (job/specialty)? There may be a group for that as well. Prayers for all of our Sailors and other service members.

I will for there safety!!!! Hugs

I will be praying for your son as well as mine and all of our kids out there. I am scared too. My son is on the George Washington, I don't hear from him but I have talked to him a bit on fb. The bad thing is that he only says, "Ill call when I can, I love you." But that is enough to make me feel good. I believe mother's prayers go pretty far because we are praying with all our hearts for our children. Big hugs

I need to add a rant. My son is on a sub deployed in April to the Middle East. I can only assume that he is now heading to Syria. I saw him right before deployment. He was exhausted depressed and anxious. His wife is out of the country in school so she, as his primary contact, gets little information. She has occasionally been able to talk with him during port call and tells me that he gets my packages.

When he joined the Navy the  US was on a patriotic phase but people have gotten tired of the wars and are totally indifferent. When I express my worry to other people they just shrug.

So I will say to you all- I really really really miss him and I am very worried about his safety and health and mental well being. The rest of the US just doesn't care anymore but I suspect that some of you do. Just needed to say this to someone.

I understand your fear and I pray for your sons and for all the sailors out there. I also pray for the moms because we worry so much. I pray that we are able to have peace and know that all will be well. Our children know we are worried if they know us well. They will be smart and make good decisions and stay safe. I agree with what Patrice said, this country seems to not care anymore because they are desensitized. They hear about war and because it is not in this country they shrug and keep going. I wish they could understand that our children are out there. Children we have raised and loved and helped with homework and taught to ride bicycles...etc. just like their children. Ours chose to serve their country and should be remembered by this country as much as we remember and think about them. They are people not nameless robots out on a ship with guns, or in a tank in a war zone. They are Americans, but most importantly they are our babies. Ok I'm off my soap box now.

I was in a waiting room and overheard a woman saying we should just empty our prisons and send the convicts to Syria to fight.  I wanted to slap her, that's a huge insult to our highly trained, professional military.  Our service members are not thugs with guns.  Fortunately she got up and left before I could explode.
