**PLEASE REMEMBER OPSEC AND DON'T POST SPECIFIC DATES REGARDING SHIP MOVEMENT**
Dates may only be discussed AFTER they have happened.
Here's the shipping info. Remember you will need the specific box # from your Sailor. ****THIS IS A NEW ADDRESS****
There have been questions from some about seeing the ship off - where's the best location, can they get on the pier? Anyone know?
Make sure your sailor gets a "Ship to Shore" AT&T calling card. They can be purchased on the ship and can be reloaded. You will need the pin # from the card. Call 1.800.569.2018 to reload - minimum $25. ***UPDATE 12/29/15*** AT&T will be issuing new cards as of 2/1/16. You can continue to use any minutes you have on your old card after that date, but you will NOT be able to reload that card after 2/1/16. Also, until 1/11/16 if you reload your card they are giving 25% more minutes for FREE!
Here's the link to the USPS "Click & Ship". You can get free boxes/tape etc. from them too.
And here's a link for tips on sending care packages:

I am new to Navy for Moms. Thank you so muc h for all the information!!!
Welcome Angie! And you are welcome for the info, I just hope those that know more about deployments than I do will share too ;-) This is definitely a learning process.
Yes ma'am. All information is useful!! :)
Thank you B'nukemom...all this info helped me when I talked to my sailor today. Love the great info, keep it coming! I appreciate this site sooooo much. I am new to this deployment stuff, and all the into I can get helps.
My Sailor's cell phone will be put on Military suspension. Does anyone know if they will have WiFi on the ship so he can email, Facebook or Skype?
How will they use the calling card? Do they have phone available to them?
Thanks for all the information. I'm very new at this too.
My sailor is also putting his phone on military suspension. He said when they get to ports they should be able to use wifi if they can find it (in shops/restaurants). He told us to email him as often as we want & then whenever they get service he will try to respond (from the ship). There are phones available on ship but they do have to use the ship to shore calling cards. This is our first time too so I'm anxious to see how it all works out!
Also, is anyone going to see the ship depart? If so, will you video it and post? I can't be there. Thanks.
If you haven't gotten a Power of Attorney for your sailor you should really think about it. (Unless of course they have a spouse who will be able to handle things.)
Navy Federal Credit Union will notarize it for free if your sailor has an account there.
(I couldn't figure out how to post just the link and my file was a PDF. Hopefully you can copy/paste it or you can PM me and then I can email it to you if you can't find one elsewhere.)
I found this link for Ft. Monroe - has directions, etc.
Hope this helps!
