The USS Abraham Lincoln will be deployed for Christmas and has given approval for the ship to receive pillowcases while on deployment.   That will be 5,000 or more strong.

The main postings for this project will be in the Lincoln group under the thread called "The Lincoln Family Love Pillowcase Project".

I will update here as well so you don't have to join the Lincoln group.

Let us know what you can do to help us get the ship done!

Comment by CSMom 12 hours ago on the Lincoln page.  How cool is this?

Sue, when I did the TC Cassie let me use her pillow, which had the pillowcase you sent. I really enjoyed using it and I see why the military love getting them it is like a nice hug from home. It is nice to have something homemade and colorful. Thank you for doing what you do. That was sweet of you to post what Cassie had emailed you

got a thank you note thru Facebook:

I just wanted to thank you again for the pillow case that Wayne received while he was out. He loved it, and gave it to Paul when he got home. It actually matches his bedroom perfect. Thank you for all your hard work!

His is on the right.

Got this special email this morning.  Reminds me so much of when my son would do traing dets on the Lincoln.  This is the sailor whose wife we did a card blitz for:

Sue,
I apologize for not having written sooner, but I left your email address on the boat.  Well, here I am again on board this thing, this time for a week of training.  I wanted to email and say hello.  I hope all is well with you and your family.

My wife received all your greeting cards, and she was very grateful.  Thank you again for doing that.  It really helped her through our first cruise.  I'm really hoping our experiences will enable us to help others who will be going through their first cruise in our squadron coming up shortly here.

What's new with you and your family?  Take care, God bless, and thanks again for everything!

Ryan

What a blessing to receive this.

The Lincoln will always remain near and dear to my heart-after all, she is "my" ship.  haha.  I have been working with the chaplain and some Lincoln moms to get some pillowcases for the new sailors.  And we finally got some done and mailed.  the other mom didn't take a photo.   Here's what he said when I let him know that some are on their way:

God bless you Sue, we really appreciate the thought and effort to make our
lives out here a little more bearable.  I'll let you know when we get them and
try to take some pictures of the happy faces.  Peace.

I got this message from the chaplain today:

ear Sue,

We got the first two boxes today and started handing them out.  We are
currently taking pictures and will hope to get some to you very soon.  They
look awesome and are going fast.  Thanks again.

Chaplain Denis Cox <>/p>

He got my box.  that's exciting.

here are some photos the chaplain sent me:

here are 2 more.  Funny thing about the photo above.  I was at the QM yesterday and I was chatting with a worker about fabrics and she was telling me how she would cut the pillowcase kits from the leftover fabric at the pc challenge.  She said she couldn't believe the kind of fabric that some people would donate etc.  I said "like what?"  She mentioned baby and kid prints, she didn't think that was appropriate for our troops and gave that fabric to the Linus project.  I chuckled and told her about the above photo.  I told her that we use all sorts of prints and I use those kinds of prints on purpose because the troops say they remind them of their children.  She was surprised but did say that in the future she would leave it for them.  That fabric above was donated by a woman in Tucson and it is a cuddly flannel.  I can see why he chose it.
