We have a TENTATIVE schedual of the middle of September. We will be doing this in Waves like the other large projects that we have done.

I'll send them out this weekend.

We are doing a special label for this ship.  I just sent out an email about it.  If you don't get it, let me know.

We are mailing Wave 1 this week.  I'll send the address today.  Happy packing!  I think I am going to take my 92 to school so the kids get a real idea of what I am talking about.

Wave 1 to the USS Boxer is going out this week.  I have 91 of my 92 almost ready.  I have to put a band on the 1 pc that I am making for the sailor that I met in Jan.

I took 50 to school, Ray said that 92 were too heavy for me to carry.  The kids loved seeing them.  They made 91 cards and they stuffed the 50 with the cards and the special Jack label.

Shana1, that is wonderful about the quilt store!  What a blessing!

Sue-Pillowcase lady.

My email is ladyoutnumbered@yahoo.com. I found a quilt shop who makes pillowcases for charity. They donated 58 pillowcases for us.

here are some pcs that have been mailed in Wave 1 from Debbie M and her label:

some photos from wave 1, bottom 2 are from Betty N to the Marines, BLT, the top 2 from Carolyn.  Top is Marines BLT

and the 2nd one of hers is to the Air Dept:

I'm just wondering...I see that some pcs are in ziploc bags; is that something we should be doing?  Do they pack better that way?  Just curious..  Thanks!

I don't do that.  I mail way too many.  I tried it and it was too bulky for me.  Then I tried to vaccum out the air-

that was a disaster!  haha.

Nope, I just pack them as tight as I can in the box.  Used to line my boxes with cut up bags-don't do that either.  I figure I use so much tape, taping all the seams it's water proof haha.   Not really.   When I use game boxes, I do put the 3 "groups" of pcs in a plastic grocery bag cause it's so much easier to get them in and out

of the box.

REMINDER:

Wave 2 for the Boxer is going on and I need a confirmation of your mailing.  Plus photos.

thanks!

3 notes today, here's the 1st one:

Good morning,

Just wanted to shoot out a quick email to say thanks for the pillow cases it was a great morale booster for the personnel in my work center. I work with about 23 other sailors and they all loved them as well. It’s nice to know that even when were away from home and from our families that there are people back in the states that care enough to take time out of their lives to support us and what we do. Please let Manzanita Elementary School (C.A.R.E . program ) , Quilter’s Market , and Carolyn S know that we all loved the pillow cases and to continue doing what they do, bringing joy to people one pillow case at a time.

Ms. Carolyn,

We were just given pillow cases that you made and sent to the USS BOXER (LHD 4) this morning at our quarters.  I wanted to personally thank you for the pillow cases you sent to all of us and your support of the BOXER.  It means more to us than you can possibly imagine.  So from the bottom of my heart, thank you so very much for the pillow cases.  I look forward to using mine each night while deployed.

Sincerely,

1 more:

Good morning,

Just wanted to send my thanks and gratitude for the pillow case I just received. It’s a small token but the gesture hits right at the heart. Thank you very much and my prayers go out to Mr. Davis.

Dear Miss Carolyn,

It’s always nice to finish up a days’ work safely and successfully and we always look forward to getting off and getting some time to ourselves and some rest. It was a great surprise for us the other day to receive the pillow cases you and others had made for us and it was nice to have letters included in some of them. It really is appreciated that you all took the time to create these lovely pillow cases and it’s an honor to know that they were created in the memory of Jack Davis who came before us in the service and allowed us to be born in freedom. From the bottom of my heart I thank you all for your thoughts and kindness and I wish you all nothing but the best. May the road rise to meet you, may the wind forever at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly upon your fields, and until we meet again, may GOD hold you in the palm of his hand.

Love,

ABH3 Adam

This one really touches my heart!
