OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Work Near Great Lakes
Hello does anyone know of any places hiring in or near the Great Lakes area. I'm very good with computers, clerical and administrative work. Hotels, banks, clothing stores are all good areas for me. Anything will help me get settled here. Also I wanted to know since my husband is a reservist once he graduates A School we will be sent back to memphis right or will they assign him to another place. We were talking about him switching to active duty does anyone know if he will have the chance to switch immediately or will he have to wait a certain length of time?

If you are on facebook, there is a facebook group called Lake County IL Help Wanted. You could consider looking for employment there. Alternatively, just going to stores in the area and asking for an application would be a good way to find work. The Gurnee Mills Mall is located near the base and has a lot of retail establishments that may be hiring.
In the meantime, you might consider volunteering if you're looking to meet people. The thrift store on base is always looking for volunteers. You could also check with the USO, Fleet and Family, or the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society. There are lots of other opportunities to volunteer with civilian organizations here as well depending on your interests.
Also on facebook, you may want to considering joining the Great Lakes Area Military Wives group (abbreviated as GLAM). It would be a good way for you to connect with other spouses in the area. My husband is currently stationed at Great Lakes. This is a wonderful area but this time of year with it being as cold as it is things tend to slow down and not much goes on. We moved here last year right before winter and it was very hard to meet people once the cold hit! Volunteering and getting connected with people through the GLAM group will help you.
My husband is active duty so I can't answer your questions about how the reserves work, but I know there are lots of great knowledgeable people on this site who can.
