Good Friday All! Reds- Enjoy your vacation and your son!! Happy New Year to you and your family. Kinda have a feeling it is gonna be a special one for you! What part of Colorado do your niece and nephew live in? Just wondering how far they would be from me?
Today I am off to find the oysters for my stew and run a few errands...Have a great weekend and Happy New Year everyone! Hugs from Colorado!
Connie- Ooo those black-eyed peas sound good! I knew they were for luck, so are the oysters in our family. My Papa and I used to have it every New Years eve together. Boy I have had him on my mind a lot these past few days planning the menu. Jessi doesn't care for sea food so will make chili too. She said she just cant eat those "blobby things!!" But, Brandon can have all he wants" LOL
Reds- Prayers for safe travels for your son! Let us know that he gets in safe, okay! Glad that you had him home with you.
MNM- Sorry to hear about the weather in Denver! I am surprised that you weren't held over longer, it was nasty that day!
Cathy- congratulations on the engagement! We just had marriage here for the holiday!
CC, the black-eyed peas are boiled for a bit then simmered. a little chopped onion and a chicken bouillon cube. not the old Southern way but healthier. a baked sweet potato (again the healthier version), a mess of turnip greens with a little Ritzy baked chicken or a grill pork chop and a pan of cornbread...oh dahlin'!!! the black-eyed peas are for good luck in the New Year.
Reds-praying for your baby boy's safe trip home!! give him a squeeze from his Navy Aunties!!!!
MNM-back to real life...glad you had fun!
Sherrill-babysitting a 4 yr. old....Lawd Help Me!! bet you were a hoppin'!
Cathy-congrats on your son's engagement!!! i've miss several days....is the bride -to-be Navy too?
So thrilled to hear the reports of everyone's holidays! Aren't we blessed?
Connie- Some of my niece's and nephew's call me AuntieC and a couple call me Auntie Hippo! ( I collect Hippo's ) Started when they were little sprouts and couldn't say Connie!! We do Oyster Stew on New Years eve in my family... I have never done black-eyed peas... How do you fix them? Glad to have you back sweetie pie, missed ya...but knew you were havin' a blast!!
Hello My Girlies!! catching up on all of you! My Sailor is back in Home port and ready to get to work in the morning. another new phase of adjusting to life in port for a while.
Aunt Connie....i love reading about your Abi!!! i am "Auntsy" or "AuntC" to a few here...a few there and even "Aunt Miss Connie" to a few others...our latest is Miller who is 4 months old and i call him "Butterbean".
y'all getting your black-eyed peas ready for New Year's?
I dropped by son and his gf (fiancee as of Christmas Eve) off at the airport tonight for their flight back to WA. Twelve days sure flies by when your sailor is home. He will be deploying to Japan in a few months so it will be a while before he makes it home again. We have not had rain for months and as soon as he comes home on leave the rain starts and it rained every other day but now it is going to clear up with highs in the 60's and 70's the rest of the week.
I hope that everyone had a Merry Christmas and is looking forward to a prosperous New Year!
