Welcome Jasmin! My son did get his pick for duty station. His C school and duty station were both in WA.
Jill my son is at Whidbey but with VQ Squadron.
B-Ready my son is an ATO and I live in the Beaumont area. Some of the moms that live in my area will drive to Houston to meet other Navy moms for lunch every few months. They are always posted in the Texas Mom discussion.
I know this picture is long overdue but here is a picture of my son and daughter in law. They were married over a year ago in WA at the courthouse but came home a few weeks ago to Texas for their "official" ceremony with family and friends. They make such a cute couple!
ooops almost forgot...Jasmin, no one in my Sailor's class got to pick orders.
Good afternoon my girlies!
well the phone call from my Sailor ended up being worth waiting for. he sent a message asking for the recipe for chicken enchiladas. he called when he got to the grocery store and we chatted as he bought the ingredients. he was cooking dinner for his buddies.
Sailor called again, dinner turned out well and he was so pleased with himself! he LOVED being in charge of the grill at Pcola cookouts!
joshmom, no remodeling....just sprucing up a bit. wallpaper removal is the PITS!
Good Morning Ladies!
Welcome Jasmin! My son went thru A & C School last year and he got to pick orders and it was based on class ranking. Unfortunately your boyfriend won't know how it will be done until the time comes but tell him to work hard and keep his grades up and hopefully he'll get his dream orders. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed when the time comes. Best of luck to him in bootcamp and we know how hard this time is on you especially due to the lack of communication but stick with us and we'll keep you company!
Jill - Wow your daughter sure got stuck on hold for a long time. Patience is a virtue!!! Glad she's finally in class and hope she breezes through C school. Best of luck to her.
MNM - Glad you've gotten moved in, even though I'm sure it's been hard work it's been exciting too. Now sit down, take some deep breathes and enjoy your new home....it all doesn't have to get put together immediately!
Connie - Sorry no phone call....maybe he's saving up for Mother's Day! Fingers crossed!!! Stripping wallpaper....are you remodeling? You and MNM need to get together and shared decorating ideas!
Hope you all have a wonderful day! HUGS!!!!!!
Jasmin- sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. In my daughters class no one got to pick orders, it was just needs of the Navy. But she said the class before hers, the top 4 in the class got to pick. So it just depends.
Hi Jasmin, welcome to our group. You have a lot of questions, and unfortunately there are no definite answers to them, but I can give you some scenarios and 'probably's' LOL. First of all, you probably know you can't see him while he is at boot camp, but after that he will go to Pensacola, FL for A school and that is not nearly as strict. You can go visit him there, but he will still have school, watch, duty, etc. During boot camp he will be assigned either as an ATO or an ATI, and which one he gets will determine a lot. ATO's have a little less time in school and are assigned to squadrons, while ATI's have more schooling and are usually assigned to ships. He can get stationed anywhere, it just depends on needs of the Navy. To help you out, this is what my daughter did. She went to boot camp in June of last year and graduated in August. She then went to Pensacola for A school where she was on hold until December when she started her "O" strand classes. She graduated A school in February and was assigned C school in Lemoore, CA. She was on hold there until just last week when she finally classed up. In August she will head up to Whidbey Island, Washington where she will be stationed with a VAQ squadron for the next 3 years. So, as I said there are a lot of variables, and you won't really know length of schooling until he finds out his rating in Boot Camp. After that he will definitely be going to Pensacola for A school... but after that... it's anybody's guess. Wish I could be more help, but there are just a lot of uncertainties at this point. But ask all the questions you want, we are all here to help each other out :-)
