Hi Everyone! My sailor just finished AT at P'cola and is headed to San Diego. Any thoughts on that place?
Welcome back VQ-1! Glad to have my son back in the USA.
Happy Labor Day everyone!
Good Morning and Happy Labor Day! Hope you all are enjoying this holiday weekend.
TGIF!
J called again yesterday and all is well at Keesler and they were back on their normal schedule. Says he did hear about parts of Biloxi being flooded. Him and his buddies had volunteered to work at a fishing tournament this weekend but didn't know if it was still a go. Isaac is making his way into MO today and bringing us some much much needed rain. He's putting a damper on my camping plans but oh well we're desperate for the rain. You can actually walk around our dock without getting in the water it's that low. This is the first time the spring has stopped running. So, as where I live, we're all glad to see Isaac coming.
Welcome Jill! Hope your daughter enjoys her time in P'cola and lets pray no more hurricanes come in!
Have a great holiday weekend everyone!
Hi. I'm also new to this group. My daughter had PIR on 8/17 and flew to Pensacola the next day. She will be an ATO and was very excited to get this rate since the contract she signed was AV and not specific to a rate. She got a nice indoctrination to adventure with this evac to Georgia, wasn't the best few days of her life, but she made the best of it. She said she will be on hold at least a month, maybe longer before classing up. Says she wants to do some volunteer work at the museum if possible. I'm sure I'll be hitting up all you veterans for some advice about P'cola and life as an AT afterwards.
Good morning my girlies (technically it's a NEW day) and we finally got Grandmaw home from the hospital. whew a looooong 8 days!
family in NOLA decided to "ride it out" and they're all ok but without power. the boys, Simon and Henry (our great nephews) are a handful under normal circumstances soooooo their Momma is close to pulling her hair out. their Dad is in Key West with a team from the Aquarium fishing for endangered species for 6 weeks.
good to see that all of you are doing just ducky!!! love you all : )
Good Morning!
Just got off the phone with J in Biloxi. All they're getting is rain. They didn't have to go to shelter but are stuck in the barracks. He actually said he was disappointed! "My first hurricane and it's a dud, we have worst storms back home" to which I replied "Glad you're dissappointed, sure beats the alternative" Classes were canceled yesterday and today but says they'll be back on normal schedule tomorrow.
Newnavywife - Glad you're going to PIR, it's awesome! Have a great trip and enjoy that first Sailor hug & kiss!!!!
Oh and yes I'm going to PIR, next week!
Thanks guys for welcoming me to the group! I hope he won't be in FL for six months but all I can do right now is hurry up and wait. If he is going to be there that long I would like to go down there and stay in an extended stay hotel so I can visit him but
I'm not going to drive three thousand miles if he may only be there six weeks...ahh the waiting part sucks but such is life :)
Good Morning Ladies!
No word from J yesterday but on Sunday he said he might be sand bagging so I'm assuming he's been busy preparing for Isaac. They're in the highest storm surge area so I'm sure flooding is a major concern right now. Fortunately Isaac hasn't reached hurricane status yet but I can't imagine all that rain they're going to get. Keep them all in your prayers.
Newnavywife - Welcome! I clicked on your profile page and I love your wedding pics - so beautiful! My son graduated ATI in P'cola at the end of June and was there 6 months so don't pay much attention to those dates on your husbands orders. Once he classes up things go pretty smooth and they keep them busy while they're waiting to class up. Do you get to go to PIR? Best of luck to you and your hubby and your Navy future together!
Youngest had his first football game last night...they lost. He was not very happy but I told him to shake it off they've got more games to play. Hopefully they'll have a win next week. Got to think positive!!!!
