Good morning all!  Does anyone know the rules for A school about personal items a Sailor may keep in his room? My son won't be home for Christmas, so he can save his leave up for later, so I want to send him some Christmas packages. If you can direct me to this information, I would be very grateful! Thank you!

I'm bursting with happiness & thanksgiving right now because guess who got permission to visit over her holiday vacation!? My beloved DD is coming home from Navy A-School! She was like "but I'll only get to visit you for one day." & I'm like "that's YAHsome cause I prayed "Even if it's only one day ABBA, please make a way for me to see my DD over her holiday vacation." WOO HOO!!! & HalleluYAH!!!" \o/ I had to let y'all know...I danced & sang praises knowing our Heavenly Father has HIS hand in this. I personally see every as a gift from HIM but this was a pick me up that I so desperately needed! :D

Actually she just had her PIR the day before Thanksgiving so as far as I know she is not allowed to leave. She in on the first & most strict level. She had her first day of A-School on Mon the 1st of Dec. so I would need to go to her. This is what my understanding is at the current time. It's not gonna happen unless I can get help though & sad to say our family will not help. I may have to wait til she comes home in April sometime to see her. I would do the gofundme site but I really can't do that either being on assistance. I hate being on assistance but really have no choice in my situation as I'm on disability. I can not accept cash without reporting it & then of course they adjust the income accordingly. I get by month to month as it is & my daughter knows that but the best way to receive help is for the actual bus, or train tickets to be purchased & to actually have the hotel reservations made & paid for by the generous, loving soul(s) our Heavenly Father sends. I say it that way because we have nothing to give others until HE first give to us. I appreciate the feedback & would appreciate prayer. Our Heavenly Father will make a way if it is to happen. Blessings to you all & my prayers for your sailor, each of you, and your families.

Bobbisue,

So sorry to hear you couldn't be there for PIR. :(  I agree amity109 that your daughter may be eligible for some time off over the holiday.  It may be easier and less expensive in the long run for her to go home.  And you would both be able to share Christmas with friends/family.

Sorry to hear your predicament. Why don't you ask your daughter to come visit you. She qualifies for military discounts for the flight and it will be cheaper since she is coming home obviously there will be no hotel. She had earned at least 7 leave days by now.

My Daughter is in Great Lakes IL A-School & I wanted to know if there were any organizations that may be able to help a navy mom on a very limited income go see her sailor daughter at A-school for the holiday. I hate asking about this kind of stuff but I will for her. She said they have a fairly long break. Does anyone know of any low cost hotels near there or how I would even be able to get transportation while I was there? Taxi? Bus? I barely get by on the income I receive but I long to grant my sailor daughter's wish to see her navy mom for the holiday. I don't even own a vehicle or I would just make the drive myself from PA. Any idea's or help would be very much appreciated. I pray our Heavenly Father will make a way where there seems to be no way and to abundantly bless those who can help. I shall also continue to pray for safety, wisdom, & comfort for all our military personnel & their families. Blessings to y'all! (I think I'm going to make some phone calls locally here this week to the red cross and just anyone who may be able to help. I won't give up and even if I don't get to see her, at least I can say I tried my best.)
