Thought it might be nice for everybody to say where they are staying for PIR as a means of knowing who will be in the same place, taking the shuttles, carpooling, etc. and maybe even getting together…Continue

Thought it would be great to learn where everybody's sailor is heading to after PIR.  This can be a great way to open new conversations at the M&G and also make new friends that will be going…Continue

Penny thanks for providing the info on the M & G. I plan to be there, however we are driving and we have an 18 hour drive and don't know what the weather will be like. We are staying at the Ramada, so I hope to meet all of you there. You all have been my rock through this really tough time.

Look forward to meeting every person here on the PIR 1/28/11 at the Ramada Inn Meet & Greet in Waukegan.  (see link below)

Let's make this one of the best Meet & Greets EVER to take place at the Ramada Inn - let them know we love our sailors and are so very proud of them.

RSVP today .... we need an estimated headcount approximately one week prior to the M&G.

Ladies..just like I have written to my son in so many of his letters and cards I have sent....YOU GOT THIS! YOU CAN DO IT!  and so can we ladies!  we got this and we can do it! Nobody said this road would be easy, but just as our kids have been blessed with each other to get them through, we have been blessed with each other to get US THROUGH!

Meet and Greet info

Penny..thank you for getting all of this info from the Ramada

Okay, here is the scoop from Sue Ester, Sales Rep. at the Ramada

Ramada Inn, 200 North Green Bay Road, Waukegan, IL  60085  (847) 244-2400

Meet & Greet for all ship and division families attending PIR 1/28/11

SEATING:

The lounge seats approximately 50-60 persons but can hold about 100-120.  Usually unless there are about 10-11 divisions graduating, they find the lounge to be plenty of space as they find most people don’t know about the Navyformoms site nor the M&G until it is too late.  The lounge will be open for us from 6-8:00 pm and all family members are welcome.

The banquet room can hold 200+ but is rarely needed.  However, if needed it will be opened up.

Horses ovaries (otherwise known as hors de oeuvres) consist of hot and cold food items.  Cold includes cheese and crackers, chips and salsa and veggies and dip.  Hot includes some combination that may include but could have other things as well … chicken drummettes, mini quiches, mini tacos, etc.).  If they have an idea of approximately how many people ahead of time KNOW they will be attending, then they can make sure those are covered PLUS.

Cake – there is none unless the Navyformoms group collects monies and purchases it themselves. ANYONE INTERESTED IN PURCHASING A CAKE?

Drinks – anybody staying at the Ramada is given 2 free drink coupons for alcohol, soft drinks, tea, etc.  For everyone else they are available for purchase.

Nothing else is included – any decorations come from the moms; all organization of the evening, aside from food, comes from the moms. RED WHITE AND BLUE DECORATIONS ANYONE??

Large banner for all divisions – sounds like Erin’s husband is a graphic artist and is willing to take on this task. (this will include all divisions at PIR) Thank you Erin's Husband!

Decorations for tables – Kathy is taking on this task.(one for each division included in 1/28 PIR)

Another thing going on in the area is located at Flannagans and approximately 10 minutes from the Ramada is a restaurant called Flannagans - 3201 Buckley Road, North Chicago (847) 689-9062.  They used to provide a dining room for all Navy moms but most people end up going to the Ramada as food is provided.  However, if anybody is interested, they do have a Graduation All-You-Can-Eat buffet on Friday at lunch that is $9.95 pp.  This includes the salad bar, several types of hot foods (including but not limited to chicken, beer battered cod, couple of pasta dishes, rib tips, potatoes/rice and several green and potato/pasta salads).  If a larger group of people are interested in dining her Friday for lunch, they would love to know so they can be prepared for the group.  The restaurants appears to be more of a family sports-type bar.  Apparently their fajitas are also really good and enough to share for two and range from $12.95 - $15.95.

No mail here today either. I am trusting and believing in the lord and I am trusting and believing that when it is time to hear from my son I will. God is good and he says that he will put no more on us than we can bear. I believe there is a message involved in this wait. It is showing us that we are stronger than we know it is also showing us that we need to believe in him and trust in him. For he cherishes and loves all our children and he watches over them we can't. I know my son is in God's hand so I am trying to find strength in my faith that he is doing just fine.
