Hi There 209 Group! I'm new to your group. I'm up in the Foothills, not sure if any of you are from up in my neck of the woods or not. I'm up in Mariposa.

Trekkie Dad - I grew up in Stockton, don't even want to admit how many years I lived there. I still have family there as well. What part of Stockton are you from? Did your son have his MRI, how's he doing with his knee?

Amandas Mom - have you heard from your daughter? Bootcamp is almost as tough on us moms as it is on our kids. Hang in there! I'm up in the foothills above Merced, not too awfully far from you. Hugs!

My son is deployed to Afghanistan, he's a Corpsman. I don't get to hear from him much and I worry almost non stop.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all! Hugs.....

Thinking of everyone. Hope you and your sailor have a safe Memorial Day Weekend.

Trekkie, how is your son's knee? Welcome the group AmandasMom. I'll keep an eye out for others in this area. If you see anyone, feel free to invite to join this group. The other two Northern Ca groups (San Francisco Bay Area & Northern Cali Navy Moms) are active with many meet and greets. We love them. So let's find more 209 members and have a first 209 meet and greet soon.

Hang in there - it will go by fast.

hello everyone--new Navy Mom from Merced. Anyone close out there? My daughter just left for boot camp last Monday 5/17...waiting to hear from her but I'm sure it won't be for awhile. Miss her a lot.

Hello 209 ers. Lukes mama, you have joined the NROTC group and friended calimom, whose son is also on a NROTC scholarship. That is terrific. My son joined AFTER graduating from college with a degree in electrical engineering. Navy was not on the horizon until his senior year in college. We didn't take it seriously when he said he was looking into the Navy. The next thing we know, he gets the thumb up from an admiral on a trip to Washington, he gets taken to the room next door and is sworn in right then and there. After that, we find out the Navy would have paid up to 40K per year for tuition/room/board if he had been in the NUPOC program the last two years. We sure could have used that money. :( Oh, well. Not so easy come but easy go. We have been to Stockton and the golf course over at Greenhorn Creek and Saddle Creek a number of times. So look at the calendar on the two big groups and join us for the meet and greets. See pics in Our Photo Album (SF Bay group).

You can join as my groups as you want on this site. And post on them anytime. This group is a local group, but not as active as the other California groups, you can also join other groups according to what your son is doing in the Navy. My sailor is my daughter, I don't have a son. She joined the Navy last year after getting divorced. She is a single Mom. She is in A school in GL. It is ok to talk about your hometown. You should not post your son's last name or any movements of the ship he is on. (When he gets on one)
