LeAnna, the 1st thing that we need to know is, did you sign up the Dori (DC) for a special pillowcases? If yes, then it was packaged and labeled. If not, then that is another story.
Melinda tells me that her son got one, but not the requested one. So perhaps that is the case.

So, please let us know if you signed up. We will make sure that Mark gets one, no worries, but want to know the what "road" to take. Make sense?

NJ Mom, that is so cool that he was surprised! I so wish I could've been there, but Ally and Betty did a fabulous job.

Betty, if you look in the upper right hand corner, you will see an option "Settings." Under that on the left-hand side is an option for "Privacy." The second option down is the option of who can see your blog, photos and video. You have the option to allow them to be viewable by all, just friends or just you.

Thanks for uploading them. i could see them once you made me a friend.

Suzan, the pictures are still not viewable. Remember that the N4M administration moderates pictures posted on our pages. Pictures in groups seem to appear immediately.

Sue,

It was a real pleasure for the crew to get the pillow cases. You and your crew have really put a smile on a lot of faces. Thank you so much to you and your group for supporting the USS NEW YORK and her mission. We have only been commissioned for a little over a month, but the work pace is hectic on a good day. It is a great boost to moral to know our efforts are appreciated. I have enclosed the requested photos of me and the pillowcase. Once again, many thanks, and have a great Navy day. Steam safely. Very Respectfully, CDR Erich Schmidt, Executive Officer, USS NEW YORK (LPD 21).

Here is a fun picture and email that I received this week. He gave me permission to post this. Moms, we are being cautious with the posting of pictures, so please be patient while we work on it.

Suzan, I think that you can't see the pictures on NY Ombudsman page because they are awaiting approval from the powers that be. She can see them but we can't.

Suzan I am going to post photos on the HAE page under the NY thread. check there.

Now Tamara, that sure is a thought. I'll have to see where I am next week. I have 3 small groups to do.

That's within the first year ... just about a month early! Great job, Sue.

I wish the pictures would get posted. I get so antsy!

No, we will be at 2000 in about a week. haha.

Tamara, the 1922 is the pillowcase count since Sue began the project last January! Looks like we will break 2000 in the first year.

I'm with you, I am very anxious to know what the reaction/comments were. Many people have contributed to the project in a number of ways. Sue coordinated the whole thing and another Mom served as the collector, sorter, and deliverer of the pillowcases. That was no small task. There were designated ones, ones for females, ones for Marines, etc. They were checked to minimize duplicates.

But without the Ombudsman we could not have pulled it off. She has been a valuable liaison between us and the ship.
