ABH getting it done

Thanks for the heads up! What is IKE?
Hi MOMS! My daughter will be headed to Pensacola, FL on 9/14/13, her A-school is for ABH, I am trying to get flights/cars situated, wondering if you know if the majority of new sailors fly to Florida from Midway or O'hare airport? Our own flight home is out of Midway but for sure we want to be at whichever airport she will be flying out of. What is your experience or have you heard?
Thanks for any info!
Navymom2013, I don't think he is going to learn very much about being an ABF for a while. The IKE won't be going back out for at least another 14 or so months due to the yard period coming up. I know when my son served on the Stennis right after Pensacola, he got to the ship about 4 months after it had deployed and was only out for a few months and then when they came in they went into a year long yard period. It was mostly work details helping the yardbirds. Unfortunately, it sounds like he is getting to IKE at a bad time in terms of learning his rate.
Thanks for the info. Was he at NAS or Corry Station?
Tracy
My son is ABF and just finished Pensacola.
https://www.mynavyexchange.com/storefinder/nx_display_facility.html... gives you the exchange, but I can't find restaurants. Let me go ask my son, he is weed eating right now for me. I paid his plane ticket back to VA and he helps me with the yard and in the classroom getting ready for kindergarteners to start soon.
Starbucks, Subway and some pizza place he can't remember the name of in NEX. Then there is another building that has Taco Bell and A&W in it.
They LOVE gift cards.
Question: how long after they arrive at their duty station are they told what their orders will be for deployment?
OK AB moms, I need a little info. My son's PIR is next week and will be going to Pensacola. A friend of ours is wanting to get him a gift card for a place to eat nearby. Which base to ABF's go to for A school? Do any of you know what places are nearby that base?
