LOL...he could always borrow someone else's cell to give a call...GUYS!
Also, don't be surprised if there's a wait for him to "class up" ... There is usually a wait. Great A School Pensacola N4M group as well, if you haven't joined, you should! Pensacola is a great place to be..I visited my sailor a number of times while he was there :) and such a nice change after boot camp!!!!!! My pic was taken there.

Thanks Laurie! He doesn't have his cel, mailing his brief case when we hear from him...it's in there. No news is good news at this point I suppose!

Momof3, as soon as he gets Internet set up, email will work, but he can use his cell any time, assuming he has his with him post boot camp.

Hi! My son just got to his 'A' School in Pensacola. He got there Saturday. How long does it usually take for them to get word to us?

I watched the live stream of the Eisenhower homecoming. I have a family friend on there (IT) and some of his family was on the tiger cruise. Very cool!

NM, you got it! Mine is working in the Wardroom (Officer's Mess). And also about the barracks. My son was thinking about getting an apartment but so far he has made the wise decision not to, to lose BAQ funding until he gets E5 and pay out of pocket to live off base would mean no $ in savings every month. The Tiger Cruise is an awesome tradition that in the final days of deployment, family members (no spouses or girlfriends) get picked up in a port a few days before homecoming and spend a few days aboard ship as they travel back to home port. Sleeping in the berthings, watching the Air Wing fly off, and lots of activities.

Hi LaurieKay1

mess crank means working in the mess hall?  I understand that when in dry dock, the sailors do not sleep on the ship but in barracks.  You got to see them come in, awesome!!! I watched that online with the USS Iwo Jima.  Very emotional.  What is a Tiger Cruise?  Sounds unique.

NavyMom2013, mine is on the Eisenhower in Norfolk...He is now doing mess crank 3 more months to go for that... The ship will be in dry dock so not sure what he will be doing as an ABF...learning curve! They just got back from deployment, was there to see the ship come in- what an experience! And my husband got to go on the Tiger Cruise for the last 2 days of them being out to sea. He absolutely loved it.

Oh I see, I didn't know he was headed to Norfolk, I misunderstood and thought you meant he was headed to Pensacola for school. Anyway, we won't be up there in time for the meet and greet, but we've been through it all before with other family members. However, he is our oldest and first of our own to enlist.
