Hi everyone,
I hope I don't sound crazy but I have been watching videos on ABH and reading stuff on line about how dangerous it is...I am really upset and afraid for my son....I cant understand why he picked this job. he is in bootcamp now....

also does waiting to class up mean waiting to start A school

Provided they class up right away, how long is A School for ABE? Thought I read 5 weeks somewhere.

Lauriekay1 - That's cool.  My son hasn't deployed yet.  I'm not looking forward to when that day comes.   The tiger cruise sounds great.

My husband was in the Navy too, but never on a carrier...he flew P3s. My understanding its "typical"...although up to The Command- to have them after they deploy. On the Ike (Norfolk, VA) it was 2 days long, the west coasters get a lot more time lol. But any time is good time! Sleeping in the Bering, eating in the mess, seeing the air wing fly off...and even standing behind the sailors manning the rails as they pulled into port! It was awesome to see, and hear about :)

My son is only a little over a week into bootcamp but hearing about this Tiger cruise - omg - I can't think of anything cooler than that. I will have to find out more about this!! Can't think of anything cooler that my hubby or father-in-law would LOVE to do. Father in law was in Navy in the 1950s as a radioman.

Jackie, mines right "next door" to yours on the Ike. He's been in now for a year. Just got back from his first (4 month) deployment, he was in the pump room and wanted so badly to get "up top", then his ankle was injured and after that healed he went to mess cranking. Loved all the port calls! (well, not Bahrain so much...) And I loved all his photos! His Dad went on the Tiger Cruise and it was the time of his life :) very cool.

Lauriekay1, He's on the Bush. He's been in for 18 months and has been on the Bush since June of 2012. Where is your sailor?

Wohoo! Hi JackieD! Where etc? How long has he been in?
