Thanks hmdvbridgewate and Elane.  I know the recording for the Mesa Verde says about one week.  I know that's probably a little on the positive side of things.  Oh well, thanks for helping.  By the way, which ship are your sailors on?

lucky you to only take 9 to 14 days.   My son's ship...must really not care about the morale of it's sailors.   I don't think he's ever gotten anything that fast even if the ship is at home port.  :(

It only takes about 9 to 14 days for them to get their packages if you have their division info. The longest it took my package was 2 weeks.

If the USS Mesa Verde is deployed ...who know how long it will take to get mail to it.. but this is the Mailing address listed online for the ship..

USS MESA VERDE (LPD 19)
 FPO AE 09578-1702

you of course want to have your son's name and rate/rank on the top line and IF you know his work section list it on the 2nd line it will speed stuff up to him. ONCE it reaches the ship.  The Ship's name/# as the 3rd line, etc.     sorry to be a downer about the time it might take.   I know it takes 2-3 weeks for my son to get mail when he's IN port.  but he is always complaining about the lack of give a care personnel dealing with his mail.   When it's deployed..takes 7-10 weeks.  :(      I would strongly suggest you also get his email address and send him messages and ask that he get you on the Ombudsman's list of authorized people for them to "talk" too.   Good luck.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.  Can anyone shed some light on a mailing address for the Mesa Verde so I can send my son a care package.  His birthday is next week, and I have no way of knowing where to send a package, or even a card.  :(

Cocojazz, my son is on the Mesa Verde also. Welcome. It's been a long deployment, and they have a while to go yet. We met him in Italy in August when the ship was in port at Taranto and he took a few days leave. That was nice.

My son is on his way, as we speak, to join the USS Mesa Verde.  Not sure what to expect, but looking forward to getting to know some of you better through this experience.
