Have a question...My son has received a nomination to the Academy. Does anyone have any insight as to what the hurdles are once you receive a nomination?
I have a son who is applying a the Naval Academy and we are just starting the process. Did not know if you guys had any suggestions or links to help us out in this process. Also have a son shipping out to BC next week! What a crazy time!!
Hi, My son, who is enlisted, just graduated A School in Charleston in the Nuke program. He just found out he has been admitted to the Naval Academy, to arrive July 1st. What group(s) are appropriate for me to join? I know nothing about the Naval Academy, I am very proud of his achievement, and want to support him, but don't really even know where to start. Any help appreciated!
Hello!
I am a new Boot Camp Mom and have a 16 year old that has been invited to the Naval Summer Stem Program. Has anyone here been involved with the program?
Anyone here from Central Texas?
After this semester Erin won't be taking *any* AP/Honors classes. She will be attending the local community college instead. She will graduate with both her high school diploma and a transfer associate of science degree. Her core academics are taken at the college, and stuff like band, art, NJROTC, would continue at the high school. She knows that she would still have to do 4 years at an Academy.
We're still at the exploratory part. Erin is a sophomore, so we have time to get this right, and for her to work on her GPA. We've done our homework and found the GPA range is wider than we expected. We were a bit stunned to learn that the the bottom 25 percent of those who are accepted had a high school GPA lower than 3.1. I guess they make up with it in athletics, activities and SAT scores? She's within the middle 50-percent range, but we'd like to get it up more to increase her chances. She's very strong in activities and has great PSAT scores, with 4 of 6 classes being honors/AP, but her athletics - ahem. none. She's an engineer/math geek, and while she's reasonably fit and active I would laugh if someone called her athletic.
