@Sandy - Congratulations to you and your son. We are from Queens, NY. Don't know anyone from our area yet going down but hopefully soon. Hope to possibly meet there, we'll be plebe moms together.

@ Leslie - all I can say is WOW! Aren't our young people amazing?

@ Debbi - It never ceases to amaze me how much more prouder they constantly make us. The ride has been mind blowing. I can only imagine what he calls and shares with you soon, please keep us in the know. Aren't kids wonderful gifts? Thanks for the well wishes.

@ Denise - Thank you so very much. We are wading through all of the paperwork one bite at a time LOL

@ Leslie - Does the time really go by as fast as everyone is telling me it will? 2/C means he is almost there, please share pictures if you can. I know it was beautiful. Thanks for the congratulations. Any words of wisdom for a Mommie who is still crying inside at the thought of 68 days to go (yes he tells me every morning)

Hi all,
Well, after months of waiting and mailbox watching, all of the pieces in the journey to the United States Naval Academy arrived today. James received his "Permit to Report" packet today. He is going to be so excited when he gets home from school. Looking forward to I-Day and the possibiltiy of meeting some of you there. Have a great day.

FLYING FLAGS AT THE NATION'S CAPITAL ON I-DAY.

Just a short note to let all the parent's know you can request that a US Flag be flown is your son/daugher's honor of the 1st Day of Service, July 1st, as they enter the Naval Academy. This is done through your local Congressman's office. You can access their web page and look for "FLAG REQUESTS". The flag can be flown at the Capital on that date, and when it is taken down, it will be sent to you for a keepsake for your midshipman.

If you have difficulty finding the link on their website, please contact their office and the receptionist should be able to assist you in your request.

We did this for our son, and the flag sizes differ along with the cost. It was wonderful when he came home for Thanksgiving and saw the flag and certificate that came with it.

Happy flags to you!

Thanks Paymaster, I will have him place a call to his BGO. We would like to know why, because each time I called the academy they didn't know where his application was, they told me more than once that we should be able to get into DODMERB and I tried for weeks. I get a hold of a mom who was quite helpful and got me where I needed to be. I contacted this person and within a day we were told that they had mailed his "turn-down" letter. I find that interesting due to the fact that no one could tell me where his application was. But, anyway, he is good with his "Nuke" seat and the options that he has for his Naval career. Thanks again!!

Sharon...Start asking question of the BGO He or she should be able to give you some feed back.

Debbi, Thank you so much. He is a really good kid, very humble and has never caused us any problems. Actually all three of our children have made us proud. Diego's younger brother will enter the Marines in two years after graduation and in four years his sister will enter the Navy as he did. So, overall I am very blessed to be their mom and to call them my "K's." All of their names start with a K as their dad does too.
