We witnessed his oath, and sat with him and the other boys while they ate lunch, then watched and clapped as they received their official send off.

Ismile, I cry, wow major separation issues! I am so very proud and so very sad, my hubby is keeping busy packing up the rest of his room and figuring out what to do with Joe's basement "man cave".  I know we should expect the scripted call this evening, and it will be good to hear his voice, but I am missing his presence already, it feels so strange knowing he is not coming trough the door at any moment. Boy I am truly having a break down. :(

I know exactly how you feel.  My son left on April 10th and has PIR this friday.  I cried for days after he left-now I cry cuz I get to see him and hug him on friday!  You will get through this!  This site is the best place to as we're all on the same journey, just different parts of it.  You'll be ok, and it's ok to be sad.  I still have his sweatshirt that I found on the floor; never washed it, just keep sniffing it-to this day even.  Good thing it wasn't stinky!  Just has his scent on it.  You will be ok and soon you'll be getting ready to go to his PIR.  :)

(((((JoeR's Mom))))) That's a cyber hug from one Navy Mom to another. Stay informed, stay busy, stay connected with others around you and on here who are facing the same thing, start writing and numbering your letters so that you can mail them when you get the form letter, and just keep believing that all is well--"No news is good news!"

What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups on here for most of the "A" Schools and/or ratings and knowing that will also allow you to plan better for PIR weekend.

Thanks for the encouragement! my son will be doing IT, I have been writing "letters from home" to recruits who are having a hard time, and are in need of some positive words, now it's my turn to provide the same to my son :).

Sometime between now and the end of BC, you wil want to check out Sailors at Corry Station holding or in school, Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!!, Corry Station IT Moms, IT A Schoolers, and INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN - IT, ITOF, IT-ATF, ITS. The Rating Information Card for IT can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/it.pdf.

Your SR (Sailor then) will most likely fly out the day after PIR, so the info concerning those who fly out within PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend will be of interest to you.

you really are a wealth of information! thank you so very much, it does help to know what your next step should be, much appreciation!

You are very welcome.

Everyone on N4M will get through this together!!!

you're normal. I'm president of my own boo hooing club here at home. :( ((((Hugs!))))

((((Hugs!))) to you all!

Good for you for writing letters to those who need encouragement!  I only wrote one but plan on writing many more.  Just like for cindilouwho65, only 9 fridays and the first one is almost here!

I bet you can't wait for PIR, you get to see and hug him! yayyy! for those great moments!

Hugs to all of you!!! I'm right there with you on everything going on in our lives and that of our recruits. I am just going to follow along the routines listed out I've read here and on DEP to keep myself connected and informed. Crying a lot is normal. I do it, too.

I got my last call tonight at about 11 pm my time. *sigh*

Here we go.......................9 Fridays
