So, how many of you have 'kids' starting boot camp at the same time? I have previous family (brothers & Dad) that were Navy, but boy have things changed a lot. I guess I have to wait for the 'letter' to find out his division & PIR date? This is truly hard, but I know he's going to be fine. After boot he's off to San Antonio for Hospital Corpsman A School. Anyone else? Have a great day all & Go Navy!! ;0)

My son started on 8/1, too!  He is staying in GL for A School. I am anxious to start hearing from him...

Mine Started 8/1/12 and will also be staying GL for A School.

Hello :)

My son left the same day, but he is staying in GL for A School.. My Recruiter has been getting addresses about 5 days after the kids have been leaving, so I will be expecting a call from him Monday.... Maybe you can call your Recruiter and ask?

My son arrived at Boot Camp 7/31. So good chance they're in the same group. He is going to VA for IS school after Graduation. I don't know anything about grad date, and don't have an address yet either.

Hey JK11965 - my son graduated from boot camp 6/1/12 and you are so right so much has changed over the years.  My dad and my husband were both in the Navy and my son keeps telling me it is nothing like Papa and Dad said.  You are lucky he is going to San Antonio.  My daughter just graduated (she is in the Army) this spring from San Antonio.  She is a pharmacy specialist and she loved it.  I went to her graduation and the area is so nice.  She and I had a wonderful weekend there and she keeps saying she wants to go back there to live.  We live in St. Louis and I would hate to see her move especially since my son is in school in Groton, CT.  Oh and yes, you do have to wait for the "letter" for his PIR date and then they say to make reservations right away.  It was a wonderful weekend in GL but way too short because he arrived in Groton before we made it back to St. Louis.  Good luck

My son left Tuesday and arrived in Great Lakes on Wednesday. I go to sleep praying for him and wake up praying for him. My heart pounds for him at random times during the day and I pray for him. After BC, he will head to South Carolina for nuke training. I don't believe I could be any more proud of him!!!

My son arrived at GL on August 2nd . He as well is going to San Antonio for Hospital Corpsman A school . I am having such a hard time with the no contact. I miss him something bad. I just need that first letter from him. It can't come fast enough.

Just in case any of you new moms are interested they have a book called, Honor, Courage, Commitment Navy Boot Camp by J. F. Leahy. My husband bought it for my son to read before he left for BC and while in BC my husband and I read it. The book may be a little dated but gives you some insight about what happens at BC.

My daughter left on Aug .1. She will be off to A school in Pensacola for AO after bootcamp. I have been writing a letter every day. Just waiting on a address.
