The box won't have any information in it at all. There's a form letter that arrives a few days - few weeks later with address etc...Up to your SR who he sends that to - you, dad, a GF...
Your SR will be able to write letters to you as well - so even if you don't get the form letter, you'll be able to get the address from his letters once they start arriving. He's also the person who determines which 4 guests are invited to PIR and he should let you know who is on the list as PIR gets closer.
((((Hugs)))) Mum - it's hard to let go and let them grow up. Trust that your son will get you the information you need - it might take longer than you want it to but that's how it goes when they become adults
I think there's a passcode you'll need to print a gate pass. My son hasn't even left for boot camp yet - he leaves in mid-Nov - so hopefully someone with some actual information will come along and post soon.
I do know that if you're NOT on the list, you can't attend PIR - although you can still meet up with your Sailor after PIR before he leaves for A school
Your form letter will have his mailing address as well as a code to print a gate pass. You will have to have the gate pass to gain access to attend PIR. Should he send his form letter to someone else he will just need to send you the gate pass info in a letter. Be patient, the form letter came a good week after we received the box which took about 4 days itself. The form letter will also have a list of 3 to 4 people of your recruits choosing that will be able to attend. Good luck to you and your recruit! I'm at the tale end of my recruits time at boot camp, just two more weeks, so hang in there. He'll be able to write to you of any recruits he may know that will not have family/friends able to attend PIR. Do you know what rating he is doing?
