IDCmon#1 I hope you got my private message . Thank you for all the great info on the uniforms !

Michelle, I sent you a private message about the uniforms a while back but wonder if you ever saw it since I went months before I even knew I received private messages.

No, your son does not pay for the uniforms issued to him while at FMTB.  But, I think if he loses something, he would be charged for it.

Mom4, I am about 2 1/2 hours north of CP, in Ventura area.  Where are you located?

I was hoping somebody could tell me my son will be going to FMTB and I have read that they get Marine cloths when they get there for FMTB . Does anyone know if they take money out of there paycheck again for the stuff they give them for there training ?

Everyone told him and his 2 buddies who were also stationed there that it was a terrible place. It's been great for my son. He has learned A LOT and has even become an ACLS instructor. Now he and his 2 buddies (these guys have been together since RTC when they were in the same division) will be heading out to Okinawa with a Marine unit in the fall.

My son graduated FMTB at CP on a Friday. He had to report to 29 by midnight on Sunday. We had the weekend at Ward Lodging and I drove him and his buddy to 29 on Sunday afternoon. It was about a 3.5 hour drive.

Hi Ruth.  Thanks for the info.  My husband booked a hotel just outside the base for the night before.  He will stay until Tuesday, but my son does have to report to 29 Palms right away.  He will drive him there after the weekend in L.A.  Thanks again!

Hi gang.  I am new to the page and trying to navigate my way around.  My son is at FMTB west and will graduate 3/28.  I don't know the area at all.  Any advice about best places to stay in proximity to graduation appreciated.  The Inn of the Corps on base is full.  Also, what time does graduation start typically?  We may decide to stay near the airport and go up in the morning, depending on time and typical traffic.  Getting into San Diego 10:30 p.m. (1:30 a.m. on our body's time).  To sleep and then drive to CP or drive to CP and then sleep after landing is the decision we need to make.  Thanks for your imput!!!
