Ptalinda, sorry do not know anyone from that rate!

I saw you mention below about Sailors being shipped out directly after PIR, that is not true for everyone, its called grad n go! For others they have the full weekend, to spend the days with their families, they report back to base each evening and can be picked up early a.m! Usually with 1 watch during the weekend! good luck and enjoy! congrats to our newest Sailor!!!!

Here's some helpful information if you're going to PIR-(graduation).  Once they are given liberty, they are allowed to use their cell phone and iPod & computer - but not allowed to take it back to base at the end of the day.  However, since most of them are being shipped out the next morning, you can arrange to meet them at the airport the next morning - they can hang out at the USO while they wait for their flight - you can call the USO at O'Hare airport for directions - it's pretty easy to find - it's right above the Delta Airlines - departing flights - and right near the security check-in - and you can then give them their phone and iPod.  They can use the phone but NOT the computer, so we did not bring that.  They are on restriction for a couple weeks as they try to pass Phase 1 at their "A" school.  They do have access to computers for short time periods - so they get to check their Facebook, etc.  Then, I got a call from him a few days after he got there - he wanted only his underwear & socks - only 6 of each.  Cute.
