Hi Tami, We are very close to you....Carol Stream! Your son just left on Tues? Well, trust me, the first 2 weeks are the hardest. You are lucky because when the letters start coming, yours will arrive on Tues. The moms who live farther away have to wait until Thurs or Fri. Our son Jeff is now in South Carolina. Our mailman still kids me that he is glad I have stopped stalking him. heehee! Because Jeff had been away at college for 2 yrs. before he joined the Navy, I was surprised that I missed him so much. I think it was because I couldn't contact him when I wanted to and didn't know what he was getting into at the start. After 2 wks. we started getting letters and he was very positive about his decision. I also went to the boot camp site that tells what they are doing week by week. He PIR'd (graduated) on May 2 and left that day for Goose Creek, South Carolina. He is doing great and really likes it. What a relief. Sorry, I'm rambling....please feel free to contact me if you need a shoulder.....Pat

Hello, We live in Carol Stream and our son Jeff left for basic on 3/4. We received letters today and he seems to be doing well. Passed his swimming test (he is not a strong swimmer but he passed). Thanks to everyone for their support. This would have been a lot harder without all the help. We should figure out a way to meet at PIR. Pat
