KathyMmon- I am heart broken with you. It is hard to know that sometimes there is a purpose and reason to what is happening - Most important is his health and that always comes first- so will keep him in my prayers that he can remain strong and live with this illness and find a road that will take him to places he never dreamed of going before.  God bless you-

Just wanted to let you all know our situation, because I don't want to disappear and have any of you think that I just don't care any more, because I certainly do.

My sailor is currently in San Diego - loves it so much and is assigned to the submarine USS Albuequerque.  Unfortunately, 2 weeks ago he became very ill and has been diagnosed with a chronic illness which, in his case, requires an immune suppressing drug to keep it somewhat controlled.  This means he will be declared 'unfit' and 'undeployable' for the navy and will be given a medical discharge.  That process started today.  He is completely heartbroken - and we had to sit with him in his hospital room while he cried and begged God and every doctor he could find not to remove submarines, and more importantly, Navy from his life.  It's so hard as a mom to see your child going through something like this, no matter their age.  If wishes could come true....  If I could find a big ole miracle stick to whack him with... if, if if....

His Chief is currently trying to get him reassigned out to Point Loma rather than NMCSD so they can help him work on his Dolphins (warfare pin), but the MedBoard doesn't think the PEB will take that long since his case is so severe.  Regardless, we appreciate the gesture of the Chief and the crew of his boat.  What an amazing bunch of sailors they are.

New adventures await us, but I doubt I will continue to keep up with all of you after we complete this process.  However, please know that all of you, your families, and especially your sailors will be in my heart, my thoughts, my prayers - always.  The support here has always been fantastic and I will miss it, and even more I will miss our Coffee's.  Wishing you all the best that life can possibly bring you.

Chris sent you my sailors address, I don't hear from him often as he's working on quals as well as his TAD job..... or I would ask him for other names and addresses..... my other son is awaiting C school ordered then will deploy.

There's a place on the Any Soldier.com website to narrow your search to Navy sailors. This might be a good resource for sailors requesting mail.

Medonnelly55. Welcome, we are glad to have with us. It's not easy saying goodby to a son or daughter as they Head off to Boot Camp. It's the unknown. Also communication with then while in Boot Camp is limited. The best tip I can give you is to try to keep as busy as possible. In a few weeks you should know his address. Write lots of letters to him. I promise that things will get easier. Just hang in there.

Welcome medonnelly55.  It will get better as the weeks go by.  We just got back yesterday from graduation and I just have to say it is so worth the wait.  Stay on this site for support and information on what to expect in the coming weeks.  Once the first few letters start to arrive it begins to get better.  Hang in there...we're here for you (((hugs)))
