Pueblo - hmmm - that is a drive for sure.   I know we have a mom or two in the Spings as well.  Doesn't sound like it would work for this Saturday overall - this is pretty much my last computer time until Friday.

What if we schedule a date in the future for somewhere Castle Rock?  Would that work for many of us?  I know there are lots up north, even in Greely, so Castle Rock might be more 'middle' for folks coming from the extreme differences.

@KathyMmom  I am down in Pueblo. I am not even sure where Aspen Grove is. One of these days maybe I can make it north for a meet up. I don't drive very far.

PS - the best tip we got was to fly into Milwaukee rather than Chicago.

Krista - you might google the Durango Herald newspaper.  They had an interesting article in the Sunday paper about activities there called "Chicago Freebies."  You might get some ideas there for things to do.

Tangela - not sure where you are - seemed like we had a great turnout at the Starbucks at Aspen Grove - would that work again?  I am leaving tomorrow to head to Groton and see my son so I don't have much time to really get a roll call of who is available and where they are.  I would also consider something closer to I-25.  There is a 303 Coffee on County Line, not too far from Park Meadows - that seems like it would be fairly central for folks coming from the north and the south.  Thoughts on that?

Krisat - It's really interesting to try to find him in the crowd.  Best hug ever at the end.  I will admit that we didn't do much sight seeing while we were there.  Your sailor will have a limited amount of time available to him, and he will NOT want to be late back to base at the end of the day.  My sailor was so worried about being back to his barracks by 9pm that we dropped him off at 8am so we could say goodby and arrange for the next morning.  They also have a 50 mile limit, or at least they did last year.  Look here for the guildelines:

I know you will love seeing him.  Pretty excited to so see my STS this week too!

Hi KathyMmom - My son will have his PIR on August 10th. We are definitely going ~ so excited to see him all grown up and handsome! Plan on taking in a Cubbies game with our new Sailor. Any "must sees" that you recommend while we are there? How about any "don't dos" too?

Comment by Tangela ~ A Ceremonial Guard Mom on July 14, 2012 at 6:02pm

July 21 works for me...

Comment by KathyMmom on July 14, 2012 at 10:35am

Hi Krista - I think we have a mom or two that has one in bc, but the rest of us have already been down that road so we certainly understand where you are right now.  Let us know if you have any questions or worries.  When is your PIR date?  Definitely recommend going if you can.

Sometimes we have coffee together.  Hey everyone?  Anybody up for coffee on July 21 perhaps?
