Hey all.  Thought I'd post these pictures.  We have a relay station at Buckley that was burned up in the fire.  We can't even begin to rebuild it because of the fire line is blocking us.  This is only one of several that were burned....

Hi Tangela, they are doing an awesome job on the fire!  we still see the smoke but nothing like it was before.

Pueblo is not far at all, we go fishing there quite a bit.

It has been so nice meeting all of you!..............Toni

Hi apalamas...I am down in Pueblo so not to far from you. I have been praying they get all the fires under control.

Miss Suzanne,  They only evacuated a very small part of the housing units on the academy.  I believe they are all back in now.  We can still see smoke but  I know they are lighting back fires to contain it.  Just read it is now 45% contained!

My daughter lives up in Grand Junction and there are 2 fires up there.  So sad.  I think this is the worst Co has every seen with fires.

The amount of people who are helping is amazing.  We have a music group 2x a month at our church out in the labyrinth and all money from this will go to help.  I heard one lady from the church lost her home. :(

Hope your father is ok.

I'm in CO as well, apalmas. I hope you're safe in CO Springs? I heard that the military evacuated the base there?
I'm doing a lot of praying myself - all these poor people who've lost everything! I couldn't even imagine...

Want to hear something beautiful, tho? One of the homes that was destroyed was owned by a soldier who is off in Aphganistan, leaving his 7 month pregnant wife home trying to deal all by herself. A lady with a beautiful soul took her into her own home, is helpingher buy the things she needs, and told her she could stay as long as she needs to. That right there is an incredible thing!

Kinda like what you're offering, Kathymom! :)

It's interesting to me how such tragedies can bring out the best in people.... Sometimes they also bring out the worst, but we haven't seen any of that so far, thank God!

We live quite away from the fires, but even still we can hardly breath due to all the smoke! I feel so bad for my father - he's 73, and the smoke is having a really bad effect on him. He can't breath, he can't sleep... It's awful.
But at least our home isn't in any danger!

Interesting fact: I think it was last Tuesday, lightning struck different areas of the lower foothills **59** times! Those strikes were the ones that caused the Boulder fire, and also the Lookout Mountain fire! I was coming out of the doc's office, and saw all the smoke...it was a very unsettling feeling. Very sad.

Praying for all being affected by the fires we have burning in our beautiful state but especially the Waldo Canyon fire area.

Comment by Sandy's_sailor son on June 27, 2012 at 12:21am

My husband works across the street from the Waldo Canyon fire. Very scary indeed. It was a fire storm that caused the fire to move into Colorado Springs. The flames were hundreds of feet high. I was at home 20 miles away and I could see these flames. I am praying for no more wind.
