Welcome Tangela!
Hello all...I am new here. My name is Tangela and I am in Pueblo. My son PIR'ed on 11 May. I tried finding this group before and couldn't till a friend found it for me.
eversteamco: My daughter was flown out to her carrier while it was deployed. She flew commercial airlines to Virginia, then military transport to Bahrain. Then they "COD'ed" her out to the ship. A COD is a carrier onboard delivery aircraft, I am not sure if they are always this aircraft but she flew out on a C-2 Greyhound.
eversteam - My nephew is home on leave now and leaves for San Diego today. He will go to San Diego and stay in Transient Personnel Unit (TPU) for about a week. They will then fly him to Bahrain, then helo him to the ship. He will be on the ship by next Friday.
With a lot of ratings, they will graduate the sailors on a Monday, that way they have the weekend free and all they do is check out and be on their way.
Congrats on having to sailors....
Has anyone had their sailor meet their ship and squadron at sea, while it is deployed? Just wondering how it all works, and others experience .... he graduates from C School next Friday and is due at the ship on 6/10.... but has heard he can leave anytime after graduation. Glad he came home for a few days at Christmas as those few days will be his only time home in more than a year by the time he returns......
My oldest son is in Bootcamp now, graduates on 6/22.... so two in a year...wow!
Lets do coffee!!! I will try not to space out and miss it this time
Would love to have coffee with all of you!
stephensmom, look for a posting soon for our June coffee. Would love to meet you and good luck with PIR...
Hello to everyone...New to this group.
ryansmom mentioned you in her post on PIR 5/18SHIP04/DIV151. It'll be wonderful to connect with moms in Colorado, too. My son Stephen is in the same ship/div as Ryan. Battlestations should be happening soon. PIR is getting close with only 15 days until we see them march in their dress uniforms. Can't wait.
