Colorado Mom. Congratulations to your son.

I live in the Pikes Peak region. A coffee group sounds like a good idea.

My son was stationed in Hawaii for several years.  The beaches are spectacular!  I visited last Fall, to help out when his son was born in Honolulu.

Funeral this week for my 4 year old granddaughter's bioDad. He was killed in a motorcycle accident here in Colorado.  Please keep the family in your prayers as they deal with this terrible loss.

ColoradoMom - that's wonderful! I'm so glad that he's happy! And congrats on the MM-WEPS promo. 

Hi all,

I haven't been on the site much since our son went to Groton in April. He finished BESS and is now a MM-WEPS. We put him on a plane in Denver Saturday bound for Hawaii after two weeks at home. He'll be on the USS Jacksonville. The Navy has been the best thing for him. He is so happy!

I would love to start a coffee group in the Pikes Peak Region. Anyone interested?

Gay - I "friended" you already! At least, you show up in my friend section...? Did I mess up? I wouldn't doubt it - lol!

ProudNavyDW&M - it does indeed, thank you very much! I hadn't thought about Skype, that's a great idea! (I'm not a coffee drinker either, but i can talk anyone's ear off!) Your son certainly has been busy, God bless him!  He's obviously a special man. Not too many men would be willing to be a father to 3 kids who aren't biologically his!
I'd love to chat more with you about your care packages, and other things. I'll send you my phone number, and maybe we can work something out.
Thanks for your help
Suzanne

Miss Suzanne,  I live in Broomfield, just a little north of you.  Hope to see you at the next Navy Mom's Coffee, if not sooner.  (I am actually a tea drinker, but it is fun to see everyone.)  My son is deployed, 24, and has been in the Navy since 2007.  He is also Married and has 3 children, including two (step)daughters, and a baby son.  He has had a very busy 4 years in service.  I just sent packages to his children for their birthdays, last month.  And some friends and I packed several care packages to send overseas to the crew of the Coastal Patrol Boat my son is serving on.  We use SKYPE video calls to keep in touch once or twice a week, when we can.  He got to watch his children open their packages from me and talk to them via Skype on their birthdays too.  Being on opposite sides of the planet makes for some interesting timing for calls, but we manage. Hope this helps answer your question.

How do you handle the "away" birthdays? Do you ship a care package of presents & stuff, along with a card? Do you remind him of how many hours you were in labor? (my son knows down to the minute - it's my favorite "guilt trip" for him!) lol!!! 
