TO: Chris Proud Nuke Mom of Mike,  the get together was fun, thank you.  I doubt I can make many meetings, because I live so far away.  It was great meeting all Navy moms.  Hope your coffee chats get bigger.  Best Wishes,  Kathy

Wonderful to meet everyone on Saturday - that was really fun and am looking forward to seeing you all, and more next time.  Cathy_ProudNavyMom - we will be thinking about you and your SR!! So excited to hear about your trip!  We are going to drive as well when our turn comes so let me know how that goes.  Have so much fun!!  Just fyi - your SR's PIR is my birthday, so I know it will be a great day for all of you!  You and all the other graduating SR's will get my birthday wish that day!!!

I should clarify some of that...although her dad is taking Amtrak, we will all be driving in my car everywhere we go so we won't have a reason to call Sarge for a ride.

MomK-Over on my PIR group and Boot Camp Mom's group there were a LOT of praises for Sarge and how helpful he is to visiting families.  All of us that are going are driving, I am almost disappointed I won't have any reason to have him take us anywhere.  :-)

Mtngirl-I am in Littleton, we will leave from here Wednesday and pick up my mom in Strasberg then we will make our way north to highway 76 somehow.  I haven't decided what the best way is for that.  My SRs dad is taking Amtrak which sounds like a great idea - I won't be able to sleep during a lot of my travel time like he will.  Too bad you won't be at the coffee gathering but hopefully we can both catch the next one!  I am beyond excited to see her!!  Today we are anxiously waiting for the phone call to hear officially "I'm a Sailor".  Didn't sleep too well last night!

To  mtngrl2014, my daughter's PIR was 8/5/2011.  I took Amtrak to Chicago.  Used a Taxi service many N4M's have used and speck highly of: Sarge @ 847-212-0246,  even if you drive or fly, call, and he knows the whole area best person for local info.

Hi Cathy!

Where are you driving from? I'll be leaving from the Kersey area (rural area East of Greeley). I would have loved to go to the Coffee get-together, but I just found this discussion group and have a fly-fishing trip planned with my husband. My sister lives in Colorado Springs and I could have visited her and gone to the coffee get-together. Do you guys get together often?

You must be excited to see your daughter so soon!! I can hardly wait to see my son. I would love to to compare notes with you about the trip.

mtngrl2014--I don't know about advice but I am driving out there next week - my daughter's PIR is 8/26/11.  Do you want to compare notes on when to leave, what highways to take, etc.?  I would be happy to share and possibly get ideas from you too.  Are you going to the coffee get-together this Saturday?

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to drop by and say "HI". I am a new Navy mom and new to Colorado, so I've had a lot of changes in my life lately! My son's PIR is 9/1/11 and he'll be going on to Nuke school as an MM. Does anyone have any advice on driving to PIR?
