Thank you all for the welcome!  I have written every day and labeled the letters as you suggested.  I will be so glad to have his address so that even if we don't get letters for awhile I know he will be.

We are looking forward to PIR and have started trying to figure out logistics.  I know I will not put anything in the letters to embarrass him or make him feel down.  So right now I feel like no news is good news!

Gay- Proud Mom of AJP, I am exited for you. When you return from your adventure make sure you post plenty of photos. What an honor to be going to that homecoming!!

Hi glassdog! Don't worry, you will hear from you son soon. As soon as you find out what ship he is on, write him a letter. Sometimes it takes the recruits a few weeks to get settled in to their ship. When my son went to boot camp, he changed Barracks once. You should be getting a Form Letter in the mail with your son's division, address and PIR date.

Writing letters really helped my son get through boot camp and it helped us too.

Glassdog - your son will do very well.  I'm sure you are proud of him.  My daughter swore in one year ago on Friday, and went to OCS in March.  She's now stationed in Norfolk.  I miss her a great deal, but know she's doing what's right for her.  Write to your son.  Write early and write often.  He may not always get to write you back, but he'll cherish the letters when he has some down time.  Keep checking in with us - we've all been through what you're going through.

My son just left for GL yesterday!  We are so nervous and proud!  He worked with a recruiter out of the recruiting station across from S.W. Plaza in Littleton.  His recruiter is great!

Any moms out there with sons/daughters in Ship 04 Div 805, with PIR on 2/18/11?

Note to those who are planning to go to your child's PIR.  Take a movie camera.  On 12/22 there were technical difficulties and no DVD was available. And I am now hearing it happened again at a more recent PIR. Just some FYI...

Hello Everyone!

I'm a navy mom of twin sailors on the Stennis. They are both Damage Controlmen.  I am a native of Colorado. Just wanted to say hello!

We are into countdown mode here.  Our sr leaves on 1/18.  Trying to get the last minute things done and a party today!

Chris N. when do you need the cards by?  I belong to an art guild and will try to get the word out.  We are having an event in February and I will see if instead of valentine cards they would be willing to have the kids make St. Pat's Day cards.  Once I have some info as to if they will be willing to do this I will contact you at your email address.
