Susank- You probably understand then why we asked where he was working. saying you live in LA covers a HUGE area. My sister lives there too. You could live in Pasadena or Anaheim. You could be in Long beach or Ontario! It is at least an hour drive on a good day with no accidents. Denver is similar just not anywhere as big and the traffic isn't anything like LA!!! He'll be fine here. The biggest thing he'll need to learn moving here is Dress in Layers and DRINK WATER!!!
Oh and avoid Federal Heights!
So then If he likes the city life Downtown would be a good option. It will depend on what type of life style he wants. I'd suggest staying out of 5 points and Washington Park (Wash Park here) is pricey as is Cherry Creek. He can take public transportation out to DIA. (DIA is close to nothing but DIA but that is changing) Stapleton- The site of the old airport has affordable newer housing and is closer to Downtown. Parking in Downtown is ALWAYS an issue so he will want to keep that in mind. He might want to look into working with a Realtor to help him narrow down his search.
ops. hate to be wet blanket here, But maybe you should delete the post with your son's office address on it. My one son who is a spoke says these sights are monitored and not by the US.
A lot of where to live depends on where in Denver he's going to be working. Denver is a big city and covers a lot of ground. Downtown is nice (LoDo has been undergoing a revival) but if he is working in the south end or out by the airport then LoDo or downtown won't make sense. I live in Highlands Ranch and love it for it's low crime and excellent schools. It has a ton of amenities included in the HOA. It is a master planned community primarily of families and empty nesters. There are some young singles but not many. I'd stay away from Boulder unless he likes to party with college kids. If we knew where he was working we can help more.
I currently live in SE Aurora. A great place to raise a family. Good schools and everything is pretty new. But when our Sons grew up and moved away, we wanted to downsize. We sold our house and for a couple of years we lived Downtown. I really loved living downtown. Great place to be single or a "married couple". When the housing market dropped, we had to take advantage of the opportunity and bought a smaller house back in SE Aurora. But if I were single.... I would live downtown again in a minute.
