Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

PS: Also, Purdue, which is in IN. It is a very technological school. The state leans conservative, and Purdue has an excellent reputation for engineering, agriculture, and technology. And. U of Mississippi, whose state also leans very conservative.
Don't be fooled by GA Tech. We visited there with our older son (not in the Navy)....it was too liberal for his ultra conservative views. Excellent school, though.

Hello Rudy.
May I suggest Auburn in AL, Catholic Univ, Univ of Utah, and maybe LSU. LSU is a party school but it is conservative.
Our son graduated in May from Regis Univ in Denver. It is a Jesuit college. I would stay away from all the Jesuit schools as they are very liberal despite them being Catholic. Our son did not do NROTC. His was a nursing major and was admitted to early admission to the Navy Nurse Corps his junior year. They paid him a bonus and a monthly stipend. Then after graduation this past May and passing the national nursing board exam, he went to ODS (different than OCS) for 5 weeks. He is now an RN in the Navy Nurse Corps stationed at Naval Hospital Pensacola.
We live in the Denver area (only for 4 yrs) but spent 26 yrs in AL. That is why I highly recommend Auburn. Auburn is very conservative and have had Christian SGA presidents many times in the past several years. Auburn has an excellent engineering school and other majors, too. It is a state school, but it has a small atmosphere despite its size.
I belong to the Cardinal Newman Society and get info on Catholic colleges around the country. Catholic University is rated as a conservative Catholic college. Currently, there are very few Catholic colleges that are adhering to the conservative teaching of the Catholic church.
I suggested U of Utah because Utah seems to be a conservative state due to the Mormon population.
And, LSU is noted for its partying. But, Louisiana and LSU are fairly conservative.
After sending 2 sons through private colleges, it will depend, too, upon your son's desired major. But, after touring Auburn and being there for science fairs and other events, I highly recommend Auburn.

May I introduce myself? I am Ruth Ann from NW Oklahoma. we are a ranching family, trying to make a living on leased blow-sand. our area of the country and state is VERY conservative. I think our country voted 90% Republican last month as did surrounding counties. its good to see some others on here that have like minds! Our son is a junior in HS at a math and science boarding school. He has desired to be a Navy officer for several years now. he will be filling out the NROTC scholarship app this coming spring and soon after applying for colleges with NROTC, realizing that the scholarship is very very difficult to get now days. we are trying to search for universities that aren't just incredibly liberal - so he'd be around at least some people who think like he/we do. can anyone comment on this here? his first choice is Texas A&M, but it is pretty difficult to get in there from out of state. we might consider OU of course, but how about others with NROTC that have some conservative Christian students/faculty?

Hi Tee. Understand your situation. We moved from Alabama to Colorado 4 years ago....quite a change of thinking and living. We have gone from very conservative values to very liberal ones. After 4 years here, we don't even have any friends. We have turned into such a divisive and hateful country. So very sad. Feel free to contact me. Hugs, Elaine
