OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hello all! Question ..... My daughter is in C school in Texas. She has been sick for almost 2 months!!!! She has gone to medical several time and all they do is give her allergy meds (she has no allergies) and/or cough meds and motrin. She keeps going back telling them she is not better and prob needs antibiotics. She says they blow her off!!! This is really frustrating me. Does anyone know who higher up they can go to in order to get some support and the proper meds???? Im worried she has an infection and they seem to not give a rat about her ....

chrisb4james - you've touched on something that is a huge issue among corpsmen. With 39 NECs, it's unfair that the exam devotes a large part to one that has a C school (dental is another area that goes into way too much detail for those who didn't have that paticular C school). Suggest that he find out if there is a study group being offered at his command; or put one together himself. He can also access the current study material for this cycle's bibliography (they call it "the bib" for short) at http://www.navybmr.com/active-duty/hm/. You might want to look at it yourself and since you know your corpsman well, suggest some study techniques that suit him best. Many corpsmen, for example, rely on making their own flashcards. There are common. popular acronyms for memorizing certain things too; corpsmen in his chain of command should be able to point him to those. Just sent you a friend request too :)

I am a retired HM1 and hear the same thing from my HM2. As I tried to explain to him the advancement test is over ALL areas of being a Corpsman. They need to know admin, patient care, preventive med etc. There is a study guide out there. They need to know more than just their job. Tell your Corpsman good luck.

My son is currently a Petty Officer 3rd Class and has taken the test for advancement to 2nd Class several times, unsuccessfully. One of the complaints I've heard him make is that the exam questions always seem to concentrate mostly on areas outside of his (pharmacy). This has been discouraging for him - any thoughts or suggestions from anyone?

One of the benefits of having a daughter-in-law from our hometown is that my son doesn't have a lot of choice about coming home when they can. LOL.
I grew up as a military kid and only saw my grandparents when we were moving. I would hate that!

Just to clarify, it is the agency that is making room for new members, not us group admins! We do hope to be hearing from everyone more in the future; it's participation that makes our group great. There is NEVER a dumb question. We're all here for each other for mutual support through this crazy ride, to celebrate things large and small, and to make lifelong friends sharing a unique bond along the way.
