While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Welp..it's official! My son graduated corps school today! It was so cool to see the change in these young sailors since PIR. I think it somehow feels much more real to them now...
We are taking ours home for a surprise 5 day leave before he heads to Lejuene...smiles all around!!! Prayers for all those heading to the relief effort in Japan...

Bonita - I'd imagine whatever her orders say is what she should follow. Hopefully her Recruiter will be able to help her out and I'm sure they could use another Corpsman on board there in Japan. Good luck to her and what a way to put that training to use.

Bonita, she should be on a direct flight so won't have to change flights or anything. When our son left we just dropped it at the door and let him go in. I don't think you can go in past security anyway and we had a 6 hour drive home. There's movies etc. on the plane, will be about a 12 or 13 hour trip. I'm sure her command knows she's coming and will make arrangements to meet her.

Hi,
It has been a while since I have commented on this site. My grandaughter graduated from 'A"school last week at GL and now she is headed for Yokosuka,Japan.She is now with me in Joliet,Il. She has been released from her old command in GL but has not checked into her new command in Yokosuka,Japan. She has tried to contact her sponser in Japan but has not received a response. I am sure they are too busy to answer. She will do RAP duty tomarrow in Jo liet at her recruiters office.
Hopefully they can help her. Narita air port is open and functioning so I assume I put her on her flight from O'hare Tuesday. AM.I hope she will arrive safely. She has only flown one in her life. She is only 18 years old. Any suggestions?

My son used his debit card there. He was still able to shop online. Make sure you can access his bank account, his online bill pay etc so you can keep a track of any bad transactions.
Not sure about soaks? get on the Moms with Kids in Iraq/Afghan board, lots of people to answer better than I can about Afghanistan needs.
He may not be going where you think, lots of things going on in the world where our Navy is needed.

I got an email from my son who his stationed in Italy and he said right now none of the corpsman are being sent to Japan from his base, but if they ask for volunteers he is signing up.

talked with my son in Sasebo this morning. They actually didn't even feel this one, felt the one a couple days ago. Said he talked to other sailors in Yokogusta, they felt shaking for 3 to 4 minutes. They did evacuate the hospital there but are back in now. He also said both airports are open in Tokoyo but there is some backlog.
