OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Jacqueline for my son it was 15 months from the time he started "A" school and all of his traing with his Marines that he was deployed...

Hi Jacqueline, this will depend upon the IA assignment. My son was offered (and he accepted) an IA assignment for an upcoming deployment with a marine unit around July/Aug of last year. He had completed FMTB in June '10. His job assignments and work ups changed immediately. He did need additional training, several courses, and is now leaving with that unit on a seven month tour of the sandbox. Marine unit tours are typically seven months. IA assignments to the Army would probably be different, training and deployment wise.

Good luck with the LRP. A friend of mine has had to go to their Congressman. No word yet on help from that office. It was in his contract when he enlisted but then they denied the LRP.

Thanks, vettespace...my son's enlistment is up in a year, it's his choice if he stays in....I would love to see him come out of the military as a Phy Asst....but somehow, I think there's a lovely young woman who is getting a vote this time around, so we'll see what he does. I was hoping the training is in SA.

Hi TDM, Ruthella's son is going thru the Independent Duty Corpsman (IDC) training as we speak. It's very extensive. My son is doing an Individual Augmentee (IA) assignment with a marine unit for a deployment to Afghanistan. His Permanent Duty Station (PDS) is a clinic in Great Lakes.

Anyone has experience with LRP? My husband is having problem getting his LRP paperwork done in BC. I have to mail him a copy of his contract (clearly stated that he will be getting LRP) so that he can show it to his classifier. I have contacted his recruiter and emailed a LRP Manager using the cnrc.navy.mil website. Any info or suggestion will be greatly appreciated!

I'm officially a Corpsman Mom! My son passed test 12 yesterday...cadueces purchased!! I've been giddy with pride...he's dreamed this for his whole life :)
He will gradngo to Lejeune on 3/15. this class will be delayed for FMTB until May. He's looking forward to some warmer weather! He's going Green..must admit the worry get a little deeper every day. I know you all understand :)
