While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Jacqueline, we have had experiences with some who are not who they appear to be on this board...I'm always leery of those who appear, shoot out a dozen posts telling us all about it...without any reference points or way to check them out. Inga's daughter IS an instructor at GL, and my son IS an instructor in SA..and we have a tendency to follow their advice and directions on matters we share here. Does that make sense? anyway, I'm the admin, and I don't slap hands, but I do, with help from all of you, watch our backs! This Doc P could be exactly who he says he is, or he might not. We'll see!

My son was with the 2/2 in Iraq...then in the Second Regiment at Lajuene until he stationed in SA. He was working the methodone clinic...now if I take two pain pills in one day for my arthritis, he's all but counting the remainder in the bottle. Geez! He's technically blue side being an instructor now, but his true love is FMF corpsman. Makes me a little nervous sometimes.

Welcome DocP, my observation of sailors just out of BC and moved over to Corps School is that it takes them a bit to adjust to being able to ask questions. My impression is that they've been told what to do throughout BC and now all of a sudden they're in a new environment at Corps School. Probably a bit intimidated and definitely looking to avoid any opportunity to get yelled at. I'm sure it's an adjustment and hopefully they recognize that you're all there to help. I'm continually amazed at the amount of training that my corpsman gets...thank you for all that you do for them.

Keeping in mind that I am not able to talk about specific training, I would be happy to add what I can about the differences in both sides as well as general knowledge of training sites and courses of study. I hope that will help.

TexasDocMom - I will ask to be friends with Inga. Thank you for that. I am sure I have met and/or know her daughter if she teaches there. Perhaps my being here will be helpful to those with questions. I am so sorry to hear of the indiscretions of the past. I have come on here to offer my support to the parents just as I do their children. My concern in the school is the students education. Being here I hope to help ease the minds of parents. I remember what my mother went through when I left. Maybe I can help. :-)
