Carol - my son is pretty much an all kinds of music fan, we just happened to go to a Kenny Chesney concert together with my older son! Thank goodness he wasn't thinking about the My Chemical Romance concert we went to together to name the dog! LOL!

Good morning all! I hope everyone had a peaceful, thoughtful, grateful Veteran's Day! Have finally downloaded a couple of pictures of the new puppy so here's my favorite thus far - BTW, we have named him, ready for this...Chesney! Sure y'all can figure that one out! LOL BTW, it was my sailor's idea!

Anna...I buy a NEX gift card so that they can get what they want or need, then there isn't any tax and I also get a small gift to put with it i.e. cd, movie, etc. My oldest appreciated it last year plus it was easy to take back to his ship with flying and such

Anna, welcome to my world, every year starts the "what does he want for Christmas?" thing...This year it's easier for me, he and a buddy are in their first apartment and need stuff. Does Christopher need a new phone? or laptop? car need tires or brakes? a stuff bag or laptop bag? T-shirts from home, favorite team? My son always got his eyes tested when he was at home at Christmas, and we got him his contacts...but now he's had laser surgery so that's out. I got him a small photo album that fit in tight spots with family and dog pictures in it. Gift certificates for Chili's, other national restaurants...

This post is for the "new" moms, those that have sailors in boot camp yet - been meaning to write it for days now and just keep forgetting to! Last week marked my son's 1 year anniversary of leaving home for boot camp, in fact Saturday was the 1 year anniversary of getting our "box" in the mail. And yes, I refused to wash my son's stinky hoody that he wore for 18+ hours while traveling, etc to get there for at least a week under my pillow (was better to have that stinkiness of him than nothing) Boy was I pitiful! But the past year has truly flown by and I am amazed daily at all that my son has accomplished, the Navy has been quite good for him. I thought I would burst with pride at his PIR and each and everytime I see him he's more man than boy now. So newbie moms, hang in there, it's an awesome ride and your sailors are as proud of you as you are of them!

Thanks for the update Ruth! Yeah, the storms do tend to weaken with the colder water and there is also a cold front pushing in that is supposed to help shear the tops of the storms off. It's been a quiet season this year, hopefully this will be the last one we have to contend with!

Ruthella - you still up around the panhandle? Batten down them hatches woman, looks like the tropical storm is heading up that way! Been very windy down here and tides are running a little higher than usual but I think that's about all we'll see from it. BE SAFE!

OK - can't find my cord to transfer pictures to my computer but will look again tonight (house is in total kaos as hubby has decided to gut my bathroom and remodel it all by himself) This should be one heck of an interesting week! I don't think he has a clue what he's gotten himself into. Anyway - as yet un-named puppy is absolutely gorgeous and lovable and the puppy breath is devine! Now, if we can just get him to actually sleep at night rather than howl life will be good! Promise to find that darn cord tonight to share pics!

Cheryl - adding my prayers as well, sounds to me like your daughter-in-law is one tough cookie having beat breast cancer, and will beat this cancer as well!
