He comes home tomorrow night and goes back to VA on Tuesday afternoon. He's bringing a buddy from school home as well, (was going to be 2 buddies but one has it's pretty cheap to fly to FL as compared to flying out to CA where his family is. Hoping the weather is nice and we can have them out on the boat a lot while they're here! Been working on the rooms in my in-laws quarters like a maniac this week to get ready for company! I tore the floor down to the slab right after July 4th in one of the rooms thinking I had lots of time to decide what I wanted to do back there - decided on wood floors, the wood hasn't come in yet, so now we have carpet being put down for the time being - duh! Nothing like a deadline for me to get my butt in gear! LOl

I know - I'm really excited for him! He comes home tomorrow so I'm sure he'll have a little more information for me as well!

My son called to tell me he's going to Naples, Italy after C-school graduation! He's very excited as he has several of his buddies from A-school there and he was really missing his gang when they went overseas and he stayed here for school! Looks like I'm going to have to start saving for a nice vacation next year! :0)

Oh - don't forget the rule about no pictures outside! I was so enthralled by the snow I forgot and almost lost my camera as a result! LOL!

Reading these posts it feels like PIR seems like so long ago and really, it wasn't. Be prepared to feel your heart ready to burst with pride! And bring cash! Each class has a T-shirt that you can purchase as well as cold drinks and some snacks (they have you get there pretty early and once in you have a bit of a wait for the ceremony to start, they show some pretty cool videos on the large screen while you wait though!) Also - you can purchase your son's official unit picture and one that is actually taken during the ceremony at the NEX (we went there while waiting for my son to gather his stuff from his ship. We were very fortunate, my son had PIR on Christmas Eve and they were allowed a 10 day leave, we made it home Christmas Day!

Uli - I think a lot of the grief that girls gave me was misguided anger towards their birth mother, and boy were they pissed at her! I guess it just took some time for them to realize it and now we actually have pretty good relationships. Now the boys, I have really tight bond with all 3 of them, in fact sometimes too tight! They tell me everything (sometimes TMI!) and I would say 2 of the 3 call me every day (I think they have a secret call mom rotation). I think that will be the biggest adjustment I will have to make when my sailor finally finishes school and gets stationed somewhere (he wants to go overseas) I won't hear from him as often.

NDMark - Not sure where everyone else heads to on the weekend but this weekend I spent my time painting and putting down flooring in our in-laws quarters. Getting ready for my Corpsman and a buddy coming home for the holiday weekend! How blessed are we - not just 1 but 2 Corpsmen coming home for the holiday weekend! I am beside myself with happiness! :0) AND - my older son is interviewing for a job this morning that is only a 6 hour drive from here - someone pinch me!

Mornin' all! Still have about 6 pages to catch up on but just had to chime in on the "sons" I have 2 I gave birth to and 1 I adopted when his dad and I married, also have 2 daughters that I adopted. I would take 10 sons to 2 girls in a heartbeat! Well, let me re-phrase that, 10 teenaged boys to 2 teenaged girls! Now that they're all grown up the girls have turned human again life is nice, but back when they were younger, those girls could send me to bed in tears thinking to myself "Now I know why God gave me boys!" The boys were just so much easier going and not evil at all! :0)

Libertyville....a foodie's paradise...a huge restaurant across from the Days Inn, only serves breakfast and lunch, and they do it perfect! 7-11 lady sent us to a small family Mexican restaurant because the Texas kid wanted tortillas, and enchiladas....great steak house not far from Libertville, all prices all sizes....and the deli on Main Street in Libertyville!! wow!! but no grocery stores that I could see, I needed yogurt!
