Welcome Margaret! Your son has much better timing than mine did, my FL boy had PIR on Dec 24th and then spent the entire freezing winter in GL at A school. He's in VA now for C-school and much happier with the weather! LOL

I don't what button I just pushed but my whole screen went blank! Uli - even without the picture I knew what you meant by "river fruit" We live on the Pithalachascotee (sp?) I never get that right, we call it the Cotee for short. On my shore it's kind of brackish, along with fresh water fish we see otters, dolphins, rays and manatees swimming past our dock. I would say we are about 1.5 - 2 miles from the mouth of the gulf give or take, takes about 10-15 minutes of low wake speed to get to the open gulf from my dock.

Uli - come on down, plenty of room and fish! I'm actually hoping Frank will take the guys fishing and they get to eat the fish they catch, it always tastes better when you've caught it yourself! Plus it gives huge bragging rights when they go back to base LOL!
Ruthella - Oh dear God you just gave me the laugh I needed today "my new dead dog" have been a weepy mess all day, that did give me a chuckle. Some of my wieners love the water, some not so much, they all love exploring the beach and rolling in whatever dead smelly thing they can find! A dead fish is apparently Ralph Lauren perfume to a doxie!

Ruthella - I will not be sharing that info on the weiners with my husband! That is my excuse for not living on a boat - LOL! What would I do with my weiners?! We take them out on our boat all the time but that's a different story, it's just for a day! I have 6 of my own and also do foster care for DARE (dachshund adoption, rescue and education) so there's usually at least 8 at the house at any given time. This week has been a sad one though. We decided after 9 months of not having a large dog (our 14 yr old dalmatian passed in Nov) that we were ready to have another, well we adopted a lab mix puppy from a rescue last Saturday. On Thursday she became ill and has been at the animal hospital since being treated for Parvo, she passed away last night. Needless to say we are heartbroken. I have spent the past 5 days bleaching everything including our yard to prevent any of the others from getting it. Wow - I just rambled on there didn't I? Sorry!

Ruthella - you are to be congratulated on staying married! That's awesome! I just know that with my boys, good lord just when I would get to liking a girlfriend, they'd be broken up and on to the next! LOL I think there are too many distractions these days.
BTW - you are living my husbands dream. He would kill to live on a boat, me - I think I would kill him if we lived on a boat! When ever he brings it up I tell him to go on down to the dock and live on the boat, I'll hollar for you when dinner is ready and you can come back up to the house. He sees no humor in that! LOL

Gotta be honest here, I kind of think LD21 was actually the girlfriend and not the mom, in all reality, what mom out there really thinks a 17 year old is going to wait for her boyfriend for 4 years to marry (that sounds like a broken-hearted girl to me)? Having raised 2 girls and 3 boys, not a one is married to the person they dated at 17! I dunno, maybe we do it differently down here but I have a gut feeling it was the girlfriend asking all the questions and panicking. The world may never know!

Alli - you have a great attitude and outlook, you are right, it is a transition for all involved! I am a firm believer in life is what you make of it, you've given your kids a good solid background and it's a wonderful journey watching them spread their wings and fly solo! Be proud mamma! :0)

Not so sure there will be any cookie baking going on in this house any time soon, it's too darn hot! My son has requested a fish fry complete with hush puppies, coleslaw and cheese grits and my carrot cake (wants his buddies to have what he refers to as our red neck food) and of course steaks on the grill one day as well and an Italian dinner too. They will be here from Thursday night until Tuesday afternoon so I'm sure there will be more requests! LOL

Sue - you get to those pictures whenever you have time, no rush! Glad you're son is getting home too!
