For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Karen, congrats and welcome to the fold! Mariann, it depends on the Navy...but usually there is chance to use some leave after A school. You'll be hearing soon what's next.

Kristine, that was the time to cry...he was ready for it. And now you got it out, it'll be easier from now on when he's around...notice I didn't say all the time! His tears were there too, I'm sure. Love him hard before he leaves, and remember he'll be walking back into the door in a few months, a grown up, oh, so grown up man!

Aww Kristine, that breaks my heart! Your boys will find a way to keep in touch, brothers have that special bond! I hope you were able to enjoy the time you had with them. My son was home for the weekend, want to know what brought me to tears? A card, a simple birthday card. Here I was standing in the Hallmark section of the store bawling! But we Mom's can do it, we have to! :0)

yep...It was a trick I learned when my nephew was in ICU with a brain injury when my son was in middle school. He worried if I cried, so I started crying in the shower, I've learned since it's a "mom tradition" with many moms!

Kristine, breathe. Consciously make yourself breathe when you feel those tears coming while your sons are around...and be so thankful that they are having this time together NOW , all of you, what a blessing!
I cried in the shower. Don't forget the group for those with kids in Afghanistan and Iraq...
and yeah, it sucks. But count the blessings that are there today. Okay?

I'm on the west coast of Florida and we live on the water, actually a river and my house is about 1/2 a mile from the mouth of the river at the gulf - I watch the weather channel almost incessantly when they say there's a disturbance in the gulf! I guess it's the price we pay to live in the sunshine! :0)
