Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I feel pretty darn fortunate the N4M's was here right from the get-go for me! What a wonderful, informative, supportive group this is! And yes, as we celebrate a long weekend of cook outs and the official start of the summer season, please take a moment to remember the reason for this holiday, the heros that gave their lives so that we may live ours freely! God bless them all.

You know, it never entered my mind to go to my son's swearing in, none of the kids enlisting around this neighborhood had any parents there. It's kind of their step into the new life. I was lucky he allowed us to come to PIR...all those other things... I'm lucky if I get the certificate for his book, or a picture! Some of those things are basically initiation things, for the sailors...not sure a mom would want to be around! Alot of times the advancement ceremonies are aboard ship during deployments. It's nice to see that "petty officer" thing, tho, even if he is not technically an officer.

LOL - here I thought I had it all worked out in my head and there you go confusing me Uli! Just kidding! Sarosa - congrats to your son on PIR! He has a ways to go to yet in A school, just encourage him to study hard and not be afraid to seek help if he needs it in his studies, they have a lot to learn in a relatively short time! :0)

I'm not sure what PSD is...but he's talked to several different people, so have the other corpsmen.

Question for anyone who might know... when our troops are in the sand, they are supposed to receive a per deim of 3.50 per day. The Marines in my son's unit all got that on their paychecks, but the Navy personnel were supposed to get it as one check. My son has yet to receive his, he says only about 10 of the 50 or so Navy guys have gotton it. What path do we follow to find out about this? Anyone else have this problem? or know anything about it?

Happy Mother's Day to all you Doc moms, bless your kids, especially if they are deployed in harm's way, and bring them all home safely...and I hope you each have a little time to hear their voices or read an email, something from them this day. If not...get out that photo album, and the tissues...and look at what you've given the world and our country. We thank you. We honor you.
and we support you.
Last Mother's Day my son was in the sand. This year he's safe in the USA...and I am so thankful. I thank all of you moms for your sacrifice and your support when I have needed you so much so many times.
